Another one of our gang is needing is to keep an eye on her. Erin has started to knuckle on her front right paw this evening and seems a bit "not herself". We're keeping a close eye on her but wonder if anyone else has had similar with their dogs.... She's a fit and healthy 7 year old with no pre existing musculo skeletal problems. I think she'll be going to see the vet next week for a check over unless things change and we need to go sooner Thanks

If I had any concerns about any of my four Hounds I would arrange the first possible appointment with my vet. One day when walking Mickey at the park, I thought he is limping on his back right leg and a couple of other dog walkers said to me, they would walk Mickey so I could watch further back and sure enough he was limping but on both right legs. I called my vets and Jan my vet within less than 5 minutes showed me Mickey had very loose hips and said that Mickey had possible arthritis in both right legs. I explained that our previous useless vets had given Mickey three so-called full health checks and had detected nothing in the past 3 months that I had Mickey, one being for his vaccination, one being for him being neutered and one when Mickey had his Pet Passport. Jan placed Mickey on Loxicom and Synoquin, these days he is not suffering from the arthritis so I keep a watch on him and all four of my Hounds are now on Berriewoods food that has the Joint aid items in it. As I have all four covered by PetPlan and my vets Pet Health Plan they get a free health check every month. Mind you Mickey has just had to have two front canines removed, both had been half broken years ago but not causing him any problems until I realised he was having problems with at least one of those broken teeth early February so I took him to see Jan who place him on three days of anti-biotics which turned out to be six days due to an emergency when Mickey was supposed to have his dental resulting in his dental being delayed another 3 days, we are now waiting to see if PetPlan will pay up or what excuse they give for not paying like they did due to a time delay when Menta had to have all but her four canines removed. They would not accept the delay was because Menta had other problems like a Heart and cough problem. Yet the delay was within 9 months and they stated that was unacceptable time delay for the removable of her teeth.

Keeping her in my thoughts no experience but knuckling can be indicative of many different hidden problems, so I would phone the vts in the morning if theres no improvement today or overnight xx

Hay! The ONLY experience I have is when we had Baxter. As you know he had disc disease, mainly in his neck. The first thing they always checked was his front paws knuckling. It was one of the most common things that people saw with that issue. I don't want to worry you but if Cee or Sam started to knuckle I'd definitely go to the vets but that is just me and how I feel. Some may say I'm over cautious. I really hope everything is ok and it's just a blip. Big hugs xxx

I believe it's usually a neurological problem - I would recommend a trip to the vet ...

Thanks everyone She is definitely going to be checked out tomorrow, unless things change, in which case we'll get her to the emergency vets today. I was also thinking neck problem - disc or nerve root compression, but we'll see what the vet says. She has had a settled night and we're resting her today Please keep her and the rest of our gang in your thoughts. We have 3 out of 4 visiting the vet this week

Thanks everyone Erin has been checked over and is being referred to the neurology team at Leahurst Small Animal Hospital for an MRI scan. She has the symptoms in her right front limb, and the same but milder symptoms in her right back limb Please keep her in your thoughts.....

This is quite likely to have been caused by racing as the right legs are the ones that get most pressure on them whilst cornering as most tracks have left turns. This my vet and I think caused Mickey-Finn's arthritis in his right legs and his very loose hips.
All the best for Erin.

I'd also take her to a good McTimoney chiropractor who may be able to help with neck and or disc problems. My grey had a damaged disc in her neck and my homeopathic vet doing chiropractic as well as homeopathic treatment cured her so no operation or other unnecessary messing Good luck J x
