Just caught up with your thread, and wondered if you have tried syringing liquid in using one of the metacam syringes? We did this with Sonia once and the swallowing reflex more or less takes care of it. Hope your little soldier is better soon

Once again thank you all for your good thoughts and advice , As you can guess I didn't sleep last night and had Ozzy next to me in bed in case their were any signs of deteriation.
Vet's almost sure and now treating Ozzy for Hemolytic Anemia which is a condition I have never heard of before, apparently the body breaks down and reduces the red blood cells causing severe aminia and in Ozzy's case some jaundice.
Ozzy is being treated on a high steroid dose and we are going back with him tomorrow for another blood test to see if he is responding, in fact we have booked in for next 4 days for bloods.
He is still very lethargic and just wants to sleep, however he has has a small amount of diet and a good drink of water tonight. He needs to respond to treatment his gums are getting a small amount of colour back tonight and i'm praying this is a good sign.
He was so poorly he didn't even wag his tail when I went to fetch him tonight. Please keep him in your healing thought for the Easter holiday. Once again thank you for all your support it really helps.

Hope he responds well to the steroids, but if not I know some dogs with it then try the immunosuppressant that Sapphys on for polyarthritis and do very well on it so there are other options - always good to have them Lots of good wishes to you all, you must be in shock at how suddenly he became ill, hope he improves quickly At least the steroids should get him drinking and eating although what goes in comes out and Sapphy was weeing hourly when on the highest dose - day and night

Anthea, Daisy was diagnosed with Haemolytic Anaemia last February, so I understand exactly how you're feeling. Daisy and her body have point blank refused to respond in the way they're supposed to at any point during treatment which has been extremely frustrating and down right worrying at times. If you have any questions at all feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to answer them and am more than willing to share our experiences with you. for you and your little man. Moira x

Ozzy's red cell count was 19 today which is a good improvement on yesterdays 14, they want it around 30 so still a bit to go. He is still very very lethargic and walking as if we are leading him to a gas chamber. But the positives are he is drinking well and his urine isn't red any more. Still hardly eating but he is eating a few nibbles everycouple of hours when i try him, just had some liver, not really enough but i'm sure as he improves his apatite will come back. Back to vets again in the morning so I will keep ep you updated.
Thanks again for your good thoughts
