I absolutely agree with you and Moira re continuity. I'm so grateful that I took Sapphy at the start of her illness to see Susanne just because she's the vet who does physio and we thought she might need some. It's been wonderful to have her there every day as I've spent hours with her or on the phone to her and we text updates/results too. I'm devastated she goes on maternity leave very soon but she's carrying on with the physio/hydro side asap so will be able to see her that way. I think you're absolutely right to see the same vet if at all possible even if it does involve chasing round, it's been such a help to see someone who has grown to know, and care about Sapphy so much and she's picked up on little things because she has seen her so often, daily even some weeks and it makes a massive difference. Well done Barney - it's amazing how they know when the others are ill and give them space. Our other 3 were really patient when Sapphy was at her worst. to you all Vicky x

So pleased to hear that Ozzy's bloods have improved Keep it up now young man In my limited experience, weight loss at that level is pretty normal for sighthounds - even skinny whippets Daisy lost over a kilo in about a week with the pancreatitis and Mayo's weight falls dramatically if his IBS flares up. Ozzy's appetite should improve with the steroids and he'll be able to gain it back. Just so you know, his skin may become dry and thinner with the steroids and Daisy developed crusty edges to her ears. They also interfere with fur growth, so if he has any shaved patches, they may not grow back for months. It's also possible he won't moult until the dose is drastically reduced and then it comes out in handfuls Continued good wishes for you all Moira x

As Moira says the steroids make them look awful. Sapphy was on steroids from oct to 3wks ago and is only just regrowing the patches that were shaved for tests back in oct and she's lost a lot more fur since then and has dreadful scurf, some skin came off almost like fish scales. She went from over 24k to 20k in 2wks when she was first ill - despite eating more than normal :'(her weight dropped daily and then to 19k after after spending the next week in hosp. I can't tell you how worried the vets and we were. By she came home she had no muscle on her and was a bag of bones covered in shaved patches Once she was on the steroids her weight increased to the point where she looked a bit too big but now she's off them she's slowly loosing a little bit and looking better for it. Again - lots and lots of good wishes for you all, it's so hard to see them isn't it Vicky xxx

I'm so glad to hear that Ozzy might have finally turned a corner. I've been following your updates and keeping you both in my thoughts and you must be relieved that he's acting a bit more like his normal self. Continued good thoughts for him and I hope you can keep him eating and even get him to put some weight on. You must have been beside yourself with worry these last couple of weeks but hopefully now you've got a diagnosis and he's getting the correct treatment he'll be feeling much better soon. Lots of gentle hugs for Ozzy and I hope he's been ok this weekend. Take care. Sian x

Going in the right direction that's what we want. The great thing about Gap is the way we all rally round each other in a crisis. I know I've had immense support from many members on here during Daisy's illness and I honestly don't know how I'd have got this far without that support. In my darkest moments I knew I wasn't alone and neither are you Continued healing prayers for your special man and a few for you all Moira x

Great to hear that Ozzy's improving If the Neem Oil doesn't work I can highly recommend Yumega's Show Dog Oil which is super full of oils to help coat and skin or their Boost may be worth trying first Big hugs all round Julie xx

Were on 22 red blood count today, an Ozzy defiantly getting his Mojo back. We went back to work today, staff and residents hadn't seen him since Wednesday, his tail wagged . Chef had his chicken dinner breakfast and liver lunch ready for him (reduced portions for Barney )
Vet was so pleased with him tonight we discussed his case/condition . going to continue on high dose till a week Thursday then reduce by half and full blood profile 2 weeks today.
I know we have a way to go to find cause but he has improved so much. its a week today he was weeing blood and what a week! Wednesday night I though I was going to loose him (thanks Sarah for your phone call it really helped)
But yet again I cant thank you all enough, From phone calls from Lisa to advice and support from Moira (Sorry I chewed your ear off) and you all. I'm so happy I'm part of the Gap family huge hugs to you all
