Andy is very fond of eating his own poo and sometimes that of the other 4 which means he is getting at least 12 meals a day which leads us to a catch 22 situation. Lisa told roo to put pineapple chunks in his food, today she got some, but how much do we put in? they have just had 3 chunks in each. his poo is still runny so we have put him on Burns hypoallergenic lamb and rice,i know it may take a while to take effect but hope it works, we are picking up porage at the moment. thanks . paulx

I had a similar problem and read that zinc tablets would help. After a few weeks on one tablet a day she was much better and now does not have any problems with eating poo, good luck.

Murphy started eating poo (only Meg's poo!) after he'd been on medication for a while (steriods). We just have to play a very frequent game of 'Who can get there first' - I usually win.
Zinc tablets.. presumably given to the poo eater rather than the provider of the poo? Would be interested in giving them a go.

Bren and Bob are poo munchers... but will only eat their own, or each other's poo. They won't eat lurcher poo at all.
Perhaps pedigree poo tastes better?

Sapphy is a terrible poo eater, her own, the others or any she finds on walks. We've done the pineapple thing and bought powder and tablets for it but nothing makes any difference to her at all. We did break it by being very vigilant and picking everyones up outside immediately and on walks used a box muzzle with duct tape just over the front so she couldn't eat it although she has been known to stick her muzzle in poo and rub it on me Also every time she ate it we cleaned her mouth and brushed her teeth. Eventually it broke the habit and she became 99% reliable. Unfortunately since she's been ill and on steroids it has returned with a vengance and we had to stop it for her health and also it gives her terrible dire-rear. Jackie gave me a stool guard which we use on a breezy muzzle on every walk so she can't eat any and again I go out with them all in the garden and clear it up straight away. Fortunately they're in a routine so I know when they'll poo rather than just wee. Her tummy is much much better now We've had times in the past when she's almost turned to eat it before she's finished Brushing her teeth afterwards seemed to help and hasn't put her off having them done before bed. The vet did say she's known cases where giving a general vitamin supplement has helped (ties in with the zinc) but others where it's not made any difference.

I take it you mean the owners of poo eating dogs and not"poo eating dog owners" :-)

It's quite a common problem isn't it, totally vile but common. Billie used to do this when she first arrived, only in the garden and only Caras poo, never the boys or her own. I started to clear up immediately after meals so it just wasn't there for her to munch on. Eventually she stopped , nowadays she just sniffs and moves away. I do sympathise with those that have the really determined poo eaters tho'

Maddy did this for a short while but it was while we were trying to find an alternative food for her as she was SO skinny....once we got her settled on a different food, the problem stopped!

Pleased i'm not the only "poo eating dog owner" , we have changed his food and started on the pineapple, all 5 get let out together in the garden and all poo at once so we shall let him out seperately then bring him back in by enticement with his ball, then let the others out and then go for a mass pick up instead of it being a race to see if i get there before him dont really fancy the poo covered muzzle being rubbed against everything. paulx

Yep Tessies a bit of a poo muncher on the sly. Think she's improved over time now she's realised that she gets fed regularly but sometimes I think she just likes it. I do catch her having a shady lick of random poo when she's out and about!!
