I've been woken in the early hours of the past 2 days by Jet whining and have gone downstairs to discover that he has thrown up his last meal. He has not been eating anything out of the ordinary and has been quite happy and healthy on Burgess. He had been off his breakfast for a couple of days, but he does that sometimes so I wasn'y undully worried. Apart from that he seems well enough, giddy as ever and wanting to walk. I guess yet another trip to the vet is called for , but can any of you offer some advice. Thanks Kay

A friends lurcher has just spent most of Christmas in hospital being sick, not eating and runny poos .. a £1000 later the vets think it's a bad case of gastro enteritis If he's not straining to poo and being sick which could be a blockage and needs urgent vet treatment you could just give him some boiled white fish and rice for a couple of days with some Slippery Elm Bark from a health food shop (My vet says give 1/3 of human dose to a greyhound/big lurcher) and see if he picks up in case it is a bug J xx

Sorry Kay just seen this, hope Jet is feeling better now. I'd definitely try the boiled potato and fish diet for a few days, it does work wonders to settle their tums.

Ditto re the fish and spud diet When you reintroduce the kibble, do it gradually. I generally increase the amounts over a couple of days worth of meals to give them chance to adjust to the richer food. Hope Jet is soon over whatever ails him Moira x

Tried the chicken and rice and he threw that up too.I have a very poorly dog - we had to rush to the vet this morning after he started passing blood. He was sick again in the car on the way there. He is running a temperature and has been given ab's, an anti vomiting med and a steroid. Jet is not himself at all at the moment - he is very low and lethargic: he can barely crawl onto the sofa and could hardly raise a wag for Sue ( andywillow) who is one of his very favourite people. Please keep my special boy in your thoughts.

Kay I hope the meds do the trick for poor Jet, a friend's lab was in the vets the week before Christmas on a drip with D&V.

Kay I would ring the vets back asap and ask them to admit him and get him onto a drip. He sounds like he needs supporting especially if he is passing blood. It definately sounds like a very very nasty haemogorric bug.
