Betty is getting so much better when around other dogs, but, im sick to death of off leash dogs and owners who just dont get it, that im steering clear and have Betty on a leash because she isnt yet ready!! what's a girl to do? Betty isn't reacting to all dogs now, but when they get in her face and around her tail she cannot help herself and frankly i dont blame her?
Any ideas please?

I think we should invest in a taser gun each . . . not for the poor loose dogs who haven't been taught any better, but for their bloody owners! I'm sorry, but as a family who now avoid like the plague parks and open spaces for exactly this reason, I have no advice . We now walk early morning and very late evening around the streets, so more often see foxes and milkmen than other dogs ;D ;D ;D Jo x

You have my huge sympathies and I'm sure of others cos it's something we all have endure at times Different things work for different people obviously. All I can say is avoid areas where you know people are only out on suffferance ie the dog's had no other walks and they're out for 10 minutes, likewise, some people can never make the effort to walk in hilly places ;D Shout at irresponsible owners ..... Walking in a big group of dogs with friends, if you can, makes people take notice (usually ) Jo x

Hi. Thanks for the support. I get soooooo frustrated - as you say with the owners...we walk out in the countryside whenever we can, but just not possible during the working week. It even happens when we are 'watch me-ing'. I have thought of making up 'L plates' for us both to try and make it even more obvious!

Funny you should say L plates - I know some people have had a dog coat or tabard made up with something like "Rescue Dog in Training" just to make it more obvious to the numpties. I don't know how successful it is though.

I have this problem where I live, and its once of my greatest pet hates... So irresponsible, these owners dont think of the consequences, its us who have to pay the vet bills if one was to attack.. I am seriously thinking of arming myself with a tazer gun... www.ecrater.co.uk/p/12727535/lipstick-self-defensive-stun-guns

Mine are muzzled but we've had some stupid encounters with idiots allowing their dogs to run straight into the middle of them No damage done but if I didn't have mine muzzled I know they would have done serious damage as a pack. Off to order my tazer gun ;D ;D

Wow, maybe that is the answer......print that out and hand it out to the stupid people (that we all regularly encounter ) who allow their dogs to do this

I always suggest you take a water spray with you and if all else fails and the off lead dog continues to head your way you spray it in the face with water and hopefully frighten it to go away tho I do like the taser idea J x
