We bath at the most once a year unless they have got really dirty although currently I don't think they have been bathed for 2 years! We bathed more initially to help get rid of kennel smell, and then kennel coat and dandruffy skin. We used a malecetic shampoo from the vet as he had terrible dandruffy itchy skin which really helped. Now we just use mild dog shampoo.
We use the bath if its cold outside and they're not too dirty, but have to be careful as they slip and also you have to lift them in and out! When one of ours decided to lie in a huge muddy puddle we had to put her in the shower cubicle which created the worst mess ever!!
We try to do it when the weathers nice so we can do outside with a jug of warm water and the hose if its really hot!
