Hello fellow long snoot fans!
I’m after a bit of advice please - 2 weeks ago I adopted a female ex racing greyhound from a rescue centre (she last raced in may).
I have a rescue male lurcher who I have had for 5 years and despite some initial behavioural problems is now the perfect dog.
My greyhound is very anxious - she will pace around the room constantly and pant. I have never seen her truly relax and settle, even at night she sleeps in her bed in my bedroom and will be up walking around the room multiple times a night.
It’s like she is in a state of hyper vigilance A lot of the time. How long does it take for an ex racing greyhound to settle in a new home? It’s like she’s still running off adrenaline. Being in this anxious state I also worry about separation anxiety. I have been working on her being left and keeping the distance and she can do very small amount of minutes but does get very distressed easily. I have noticed my lurcher is being a bit clingy these days so I hope her anxiety doesn’t rub off on him.
I suppose I’m just looking for some reassurance as it’s definitely not any easier the second time around for the bedding in period with a rescue! I’d love to hear any advice about settling in ex racers specially.

Hello. I have no answer for you as i have only had 2 greys and they were so laid back i never knew we had them. As there are only a few regulars on here since facebook was invented you may get some answers by joining "Friends of Greyhound Gap on facebook as there are thousands of regulars on there. Good luck , i'm sure your problem will soon be solved.
