Hi, my partner has an aging greyhound (10 years) who is getting a bit stiff and hates be lifted. I'd like to try training her to use a ramp and wanted to start now before she really needs it (there are a couple of steps upto my house and for the car). I'm not really a greyhound person, honestly I don't really understand how they think having grown up with rescue crossbreeds mainly with collie in them who are pretty easy to train - lily is very different. Has anyone had success with clicker training a hound to shape behaviour? I started recently and although she is very foody and I am using her favourite treats she isn't responding in any way really. Is there a better way to train greyhounds?
Thanks!

What does she do if you lay her favourite treats along the ramp and encourage her to walk along it to reach them?

At Least she is food orientated. I agree try with the board flat. Get her walking along it for treats. then maybe elevate an end slightly on a cushion introducing slow incremental changes. Having said that my experience is with lurchers and getting them to go through a dog door! Another thought is to use another dog to show her what is expected with very nice hogh value treats. I had a clever and slightly challenged lurcher and when Max watched how Lace did things the penny dropped!
