I’m adopting a greyhound very soon and I’ve been looking at what the best diet would be for him. I don’t want to feed him a completely raw diet at the minute, I might feed him raw sometime in the future, but because he’s my first dog I want to get him settled and happy before doing anything too different. I was thinking of feeding him part dried food (Arden Grange kibble), part beef mince and a few green beans. Although I’ve heard different opinions on the best way to serve meat, some have been saying that completely raw is the best idea, others have said that raw meat can be dangerous. Any advice or suggestions?

I'd start of feeding him whatever he has been having in the kennels/rescue you get him from as these dogs can have quite sensitive tummies. Transfer gradually to whatever you decide to feed. Most hounds are not fed high quality food in kennels and cannot always cope with the 'good' stuff even if you would like to give it.

I’d start with what the rescue kennel were feeding and gradually change if you feel that’s what you’d like to do. Different dogs do well on different things. I give my oldie kibble with a topping of boiled turkey mince and roasted sweet potato and that suits him. There are good guidelines written on a lot of fb pages and websites like nothing too salty etc, Good luck.
