Hello, does anyone use a dog gate and what height do you find is suitable? The one I was planning on getting is 105cm - do you think this will be high enough? I don't want Dom to injure himself attempting to get over. It is to keep him in the adjoining room at night, so he is still close by and can see us but not able to climb in the bed. He is not really a big jumper, preferring to step over things, but has surprised me a couple of times jumping over the arm of the sofa (probably about 65cm?). How high can greyhounds jump?
thank you, Kate

Ours is 102cm high (Bettaware- from Argos I think).
Now, I have lurchers not greys but they're more likely to try jumping over than a grey (I would think). I've only had one dog jump over it, and that was a newbie foster who'd just had his tackle removed and he was trying to get to me from the kitchen!
Since then I've used it as a divider similar to your plan, on the door of the next door bedroom with new fosters so they have their own space but can still hear us and we can hear them. If they have a lovely bed and a warm blanket/jumper I've always found they settle very well into the routine of going to bed.

We got an Argos one, which was fine height-wise, but is now in the loft as Arthur worked out that using his teeth to pull the bottom hard enough (with an upward action - he's not silly!) to open it.... *sigh* As long as you don't have an equally brainy grey it'll be fine ;-)

Haha - hopefully it'll take ours a few weeks to work it out so we get our money's worth! That is really clever - it's amazing what they can work out X

I use an ordinary baby gate just fixed slightly higher in the doorway. Still jumpable but tbh, only Alf (lurcher) has done it once.

I have various sized baby gates - 2 of my whippety dogs have always jumped them, 2 never have. I have one really high one that none of them have ever jumped, but as already stated, greyhounds rarely jump so it just needs to be a deterrent.

We had one from Argos. Its in roof so can't measure it, but it was sold as a dog gate rather than a baby gate and was much taller.
