Hi.we have had meggy for about 15 months now,ex-racer and rescue.we are thinking that she would like a companion at home in the day.i`m all for this but my concerns are how will they get on? will they fight? they have briefly met and seemed ok has anyone got any ideas what to look for or questions we should ask at rescue centre....thank you in advance ...marie

A reputable rescue will work with you and your current dog to make sure that there is a match with you, your dog and your particular environment. If they have done a pre adoption check at your home and discussed various aspects with you they should have a good understanding of the dog that will fit with you and you should be able to trust their recommendation of a suitable dog.
Take the dogs for a walk together and let them run together at the rescue, I presume they have some sort of paddock/running area. you may need to use muzzles at this stage, just in case.
Other people may have more suggestions.

Well done for taking the leap! I have three lurchers who all sleep in our bedroom. Each has their own bed and we made sure the routine was set from day 1 that each arrived which bed they slept in. If one gets in another's bed, they're asked nicely to go to their own. Alfie's the only one who comes on the bed around 5am, Lizzie would like to I think but Alfie would defend it, and luckily Greta has no interest. I personally wouldn't be comfortable letting a dog with sleep aggression sleep on my bed at all. I think you need to reset the rule book.
