For the last couple of days Pluto has had a small retch when he has stood up after being laid down for a long time. He has done this before after eating grass but this seems to be happening when he stands up. I've checked his mouth and can't see any obstruction. I've checked his neck for injuries. His temperature is normal and his breathing is fine. He is eating and drinking fine and apart from shorter walks because of the heat, everything else seems normal. He isn't distressed. Does anyone think it could be heat related or does it sound like the start of something else. It definitely isn't a cough. Thanks. Janine x

I wonder if he's scratched his throat with something? perhaps a seed from the grass? Does his breath smell normal? Maddie had tonsillitis before Christmas and she retched a bit with it but it has a particular smell which the vet recognized straight away. Hope it's nothing  |

Moss sometimes retches if he makes a particular silly noise, I think he just puts a strain on his throat daft baby.
Hope Pluto is okay.

Hi. Sorry for the delay in updating. We've had a very tiring couple of days ( me 'sleeping' on the couch with Pluto whilst Daisy decided to sleep on my head. He had a huge bout of colitis Sunday night/ Monday morning and vomited quite a few times. This is the first time in ages he's had colitis so I'm assuming it was related to this. He is shattered but OK and he hasn't been retching since. I think all the vomiting must have dislodged whatever it was that was bothering him. Thanks for your comments and good wishes. Janine x

I wonder if it was bile reflux causing it? the bile would come up easily when he was laid down. Hope he's ok x

Hi Vicky. Pluto seems back to his loopy self today. He slept all night last night and wasn't sick at all. He hasn't been retching even when he gets up. So still a bit of a mystery but I'm just glad he's back to ' normal'  Janine x |
