Dear all, My 6 year old greyhound boy keeps weeing and pooing in the night. We make sure he has plenty of time and watch him go last thing at night around 11pm. Really don't know what to try next. It's running all into the kitchen skirting boards so I've had to break them to clean behind them. The grout between the tiles is all stained which I can't get clean. Any advice please as this is getting me down. He is fine during the day. Thanks, Sarah ?

When do you feed him?

How long have you had him? Have you tried letting him sleep on a dog bed/duvet in your bedroom as that often solves this sort of problem? I'd also give him a walk last thing instead of just a trip out into the garden as that might help him empty more completely.

Perhaps a vet check to see that he has no underlying infections?

Thanks guys for responding.
We've had him about 14 months now. He has always done this on and off but we seem to be having a bad run of it at the moment.
Unfortunately it's not always possible to walk him last thing at night. He won't go anywhere near our stairs! Don't really want to encourage that to be honest.
I've decided to change the time I feed him from evening tea time to lunchtime to see if this changes his rhythm!
Fingers crossed!

Do you only feed him once a day? I feed ours twice, when they get up and between 5 and 6pm.

I think the majority of folks feed twice a day, I certainly do - I would imagine the amount a greyhound needs to eat, fed in one go, would make most dogs pee and poo during the night. Try halving the amount and feed twice a day ... I'm sure you will find a huge improvement very soon.
