I know I'm gonna sound like a right drama queen, but I've found a few fleas in the house and it's completely wigging me out. In the seven years we've had the dogs, we have never had fleas. The strange thing is, I can't find any on the dogs at all. They recently had their treatment and I've gone through their coats with a fine comb and can't see a thing on them. The few I did find were on the carpet ( my ankles got bitten). I've washed all their bedding, been hoovering like a loon, put salt under all the furniture (apparently this dries out and kills any eggs?) but even though I haven't seen any more, the thought of them is still bothering me. So have any of you used Indorex or anything similar that you could recommend that really works. I'm almost certain it's mind over matter but I don't feel like I can settle until I'm certain there aren't any more lurking. Told you it was OTT x

I've got asthma and house sprays can be a nightmare but Indorex is fine for me, I'd recommend it. If you look at the advice of vetuk I think they say you should hoover thoroughly daily for a week or so to get them as they hatch as well as spraying, worth a read as it was helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Indorex. Staykill nearly killed me, it's vile. Good luck!

Thanks. I've just combed the dogs and thoroughly hoovered and emptied the bag and....nothing. However, I drank my tea out in the garden and got bitten. Definitely a flea because I grabbed it and had a good look. So now I'm wondering if the garden is a problem. The only thing different in the garden this year is that we have been pestered to death with lots of new and not very healthy cats. Naively I thought they wouldn't come in because of the dogs but they do. Pluto had hold of one a few months ago. Now I'm wondering if there could be a connection with the fleas. Sounds crazy I know but the lack of sleep is sending me a bit loopy. Thanks again x

Cat fleas are smaller than dog fleas - it would seem that if you are being plagued by fleas in the garden, they are surely more likely to be cat fleas and they have hopped onto one of the dogs and been taken into the house?

I agree, cat fleas are more prevalent than dog ones. Every 6 mths when I'm having a good clean (I do have a good clean more often than that ) I routinely spray Indorex under the furniture and and skirtings and any cracks and crevices and especially under and around heat sources so any that do get brought in are killed.

Could they be hedgehog fleas? We've had those when the dogs have picked up the hedgehogs and brought them inside. These fleas are not supposed to stay on dogs so that may be why you don't see any on them.

Thanks everyone. Spoke to vet and he seems to agree that its more likely to be cat fleas they've brought in. Both been re-de-fleaded. Indorex in the house and going to cut back the garden and spray at the weekend. I have really struggled with having to use chemical based sprays but have had to admit defeat on this one. The dogs are miserable because of all the faffing and I'm shattered. Thanks again for the help x

Hope it all works and you are flea free

Still a bit undecided about the garden. I was thinking about Borax firstly to see if that has any effect before I move onto the hard stuff. Flea spray that is not gin x

I used Bimeda Flee Pesticide Free Flea Spray in the house when I had a problem a couple of years ago. No fleas since!

Can you use diatamous earth? I don't know a lot about it but there is a group on fb about holistic treatments and they seem to use it for everything! I'm sure there is a garden quality of it.

Well, we decided to completely clear the garden. There was a patch where we had bark chippings and the vet said these are ideal for flea infestations. Who knew? I didn't. So they've all been removed. There haven't been any signs of anything in the house or on the dogs. I have gone a bit mad and thrown all their bedding and bought new. I suppose in a way it's made me realize that even though we are on the ball with their treatments ( this the first time in 7 years we have had a problem) you can't let your guard down where these determined little buggers are concerned. I now have a spare can of Indorex in the cupboard. Thanks for all your help x
