Hi.
I have just registered my dogs with pets as therapy and they also go for hydrotherapy so they are now in the car much more. I would really like some crates for them.
I have a Ford focus and drop the seats down so the back is flat.
Can anyone recommend any decent travel cages/ crates

I swear by Barjo tailgate guards, rather than crates. You can then open the rear door without any fear of the dogs jumping out - particularly useful for multiple dog households, or the ability to leave the back open in hot weather when stationery. I have an ordinary guard behind either the front or back seat, which works perfectly. They are not cheap, but last forever www.barjo.co.uk/tailgate-guards

For our Dog wagon I have three Barjo safety gates across the two front sliding doors and the twin back doors, also a Barjo Guard behind the drivers cab. All the safety gates have three sliding bolts that can have a lock fitted in them so you can in warm weather leave all the back area doors open and know nobody can open the safety gates and let my four Hounds out. The only thing I should have had was to have the top third of the back safety gate in two parts, as I now have a shelf above where the Hounds are, they use it as a kennel as the shelf goes from the back doors to the start of the side sliding doors. I have a Barjo back door Gate and a Barjo Guard that goes behind the back seats which are available if anyone is near me at J45 (Swansea/Pontardawe) for a donation to GAP. These were for a Citroen C5 Estate and were removed when the C5 was given to my estranged wife. I also have a large Dog crate with two exits also available for a donation to GAP but again collection only. This crate came from Barjo at the beginning of 2012 when I had the Dog Wagon measured (4 hours) and 3 weeks later fitted with the guards (another 4 hours) fitted by Barjo of Wokingham Berkshire. The main problem with normal cars is the two back passenger doors, but I assume Barjo could fit safety gates across those doors which can be removed when you want to carry passengers in the back seats. Otherwise make sure the safety locks are on those passenger back doors so no-one can open them.

Another one here with a Barjo We have a Land Rover Discovery and at the time thought it too expensive, but so glad we decided to get it...It has certainly proved its worth. The car door can be opened wide with the dogs still contained and they have the full height of the vehicle. Occasionally, you can find them second hand on ebay...as Sue (andywillow) will tell you! You need to buy the correct one for your vehicle.

I need a tailgate guard for my car and am looking at MMG Guards as they do one that is split horizontally like a stable door, I think it will be safer for getting leads on when we travel

Another fan of Barjo tailgates here.
I think you may struggle to find a crate that is tall enough for your dog (if it's a greyhound) that will fit in a focus, also you have to consider how you will make it secure.
Custom built would be the way to go but that won't be cheap. Barjo are expensive but it is worth looking on Ebay for a second hand one, I've bought secondhand and I sold one recently from a previous car.
