Since we no longer have Suggs Flynn and Tia in particular seem unsettled. Tia more so , Flynn just seems a bit subdued and isn't always eating as well as he did, although it's not the end of the world as he is quite errr chunky. Tia is the same but seems nervous and edgy. It may partly be due to the fact that the mornings are lighter when we walk and she assisiate a it with bird scarers. She will have an off lead run with Flynn but will then strand very still ignore me and try to head for home. However in the house she seems on edge too , jumping at the least little thing and generally moping around a bit. They were both ok for the first two or three days without Suggs but must realise he's not coming back now. The three of them were very bonded , running mates and always together although Tia was bossy to Suggs over beds and would regularly oust him from his bed. I'mjust wondering what is the best way to deal with it should I ignore the change in them or give them especially Tia extra fuss. I think her problem could be two different things fear of bangs outside and losing Suggs at home. She does love big black male Hounds in general. I'm pleased to say Dilly and Barty seem fine but they have never bonded with any one dog in particular . Thanks in advance for any thoughts .

I believe dogs grieve in exactly the same way as we do, and we all take time to recover - every dog we loose leaves a terrific hole in our homes. I hope they both get back to their normal selves - only time will heal you all.

Sounds like they're both grieving, and like us I think dogs show grief in different ways.Kizzie was closely bonded with Tillie - they'd always been together, she'd never been an only dog.Perry didn't really bond with Kiz but missed the companionship, probably cos he went to Sue and her pack for fostering, then came here to Kiz.Think his little brain equates a home = at least 1 other dog. He's a lot happier now he has Jem to liven him up - Cath.

Both my girls became very unsettled when Zakkaman went to the bridge. He had always been a strong character and it took them time to both grieve for him and also to settle into their own routines. Time, for both dogs and us humans is a great healer and they will settle again in time................promise. x
