We have decided to get Boris (whippet cross)a ruffwear harness as he is very dog reactive out on the lead & think the harness should give me more control ,also worried he will hurt his neck lunging. He measured round girth 26 inches which seems to be top end of small & bottom end of medium. Will medium be too big ? will small go over his coat ? Any advice appreciated.

I would say a small. I have a greyhound boy and a tubby crossbreed, a medium fits both of them with plenty of room for expansion still so I think you'll find he'll swim inside a medium

Bod, whippet x , slightly sturdier than a pure whippet has a small but I'm sure xs would fit as there's quite a lot of overlap in the sizes. Our greyhound girls are in medium ones but can gets Bods small on but it looks too short so I'd agree with Sarah and say small

Billie is in a medium, she measures 26-27 at the deepest part of her chest, there is room for adjustment in this size for her though, from base of neck to root of tail she measures 24-25, a medium is a good length on her.

Gracie is a 30" chest and her medium would drown your Boris as it would fit a much bigger chest too. A s would go over his coat too.

My whippies are xs - I have a small size one too, which is a little large for them - I imagine s would be fine for your whippet x

Blue has a medium having met boris the other week and seeing how much smaller than blue he is I would think a small would fit as the medium would fit a dog quite a bit bigger than blue

Thank you for all the help. Decided Colin The Clot (GG rescue lurcher )could do with one as he is an a**** on lead sometimes & with 3 to hang on to max control needed. So I have ordered medium for Colin & can try it against Boris to get idea of sizings. Boris is so lovely apart from his dog aggression. Fallen in love with him already. x

I so love them, 3 of our 4 have them. Only Sapphy doesn't but she doesn't need one and isn't happy wearing it. Our bridge lurcher was the first one I bought one for when he got arthritis. He was a nervous boy so the first time I put it on him he just froze and wouldn't move so I did the usual stuff of just leaving it around the house for him to sniff but he wasn't having it. I then hit on the idea of taking it out with us and put it on him mid walk when he was off lead and walking off! He had 2 choices, stay or get over himself and follow which he did and he was fine with it then and it was so helpful if he was a bit wobbly or on steps.
