I had two appointments at the hospital so left all four hounds at home I had already fed Menta and Kelly their early breakfast and given Menta her insulin injection. 90 Minutes later I got back home Kelly heard me and was shouting for me to take them for their walk. After our walk I then gave all four their main breakfast, Menta was extremely noisy shouting at me to hurry up with their breakfast. They all cleared their dishes. Now all four hounds are fast asleep in the front room.

Checked Menta's blood/glucose level today it is nearly back into the normal range. She will be at the vets all day on Monday 1st December 2014 for the Glucose curve to be worked out. I have to drop Menta in at 08.30am and it may take until 8pm before they release her. I have to give her first breakfast at 8am and then insulin injection, plus I then have to take the insulin along with Menta and leave at the vets.
Had Menta weighed today and she weighed in at 22.7 kilos, that is 1.3 kilos above the low point on Wednesday 12th November when she weighed in at 21.4 kilos, on Monday 17th she weighed 21.9 kilos. Menta is on 15 units of insulin twice aday, once after her first breakfast and once after her evening meal. I gave her and Kelly 1/2 a carton each for first breakfast and all four Hounds have just had a carton each for their late breakfast. At the moment it is the last box of Chicken Nature Diet. Their cartons are awkward to open compared with ForthGlade cartons.
I am taking 4 boxes of 18 cartons of ForthGlade Chicken and Tripe for our week's holiday. That will cover the Hounds meals whilst away in Pembrokeshire. Berriewoods say they may get proper supplies of Naturediet by the end of November. Naturediet will not say why they are having problems supplying companies wanting to be restocked.
I took Mickey along with Menta to see Jan the vet today as he adores everyone at the vets but especially Jan, Mickey was so excited when he realised that although he did not have any problems I was taking him to see Jan the vet.

Glad it sounds as if Menta is doing well. I usually take ours to the vets in pairs, they're more relaxed that way and never know if it's for them or not! Maddie watches intently if anyone's having bloods, Chris jokes that she'll be able to do it herself soon!

Had Menta weighed today, she is now at 24.4 kilos, so she has put 3 kilos back on due to having the twice daily insulin injections. Strangely all three Greyhounds have lost 1/2 kilo in the month since they were last weighed.
Menta goes in for another Glucose Curve all day session from 8.30am on Monday 15th December.
Am I glad that Menta is insured as her vet bills have come to about £1600 so far since the renewal of her insurance in June of which I have had to pay £345 in normal vet excess charges and £130 in complementary vet excess charges. Have to watch her future vet costs until late June 2015 as they have her down for a yearly maximum of £4000 normal vet charges, plus £700 for complementary vet charges. I will have another £115 excess to pay for the seperate illness of being diabetic

Menta was at the vets from 8.30am until 7pm for them to work out her Glucose curve. The Glucose Curve went okay, so from now on once every two weeks I have to take her to the vets 7 hours after her breakfast and insulin injection. She is now on 14 units twice a day of insulin. Weighed her today, 25.5 Kilos so she has put on 4.1 kilos from the low point. Menta is now having one carton twice a day, she also likes tucking into Chicken and Rice Gluten Free Kibble that I leave down in a large bucket.

Boy is Menta feeling alot brighter in life, Today we were late going out for our first walk. Menta started shouting come on Dad lets go for our walk. On the way she was shouting all the way to our walking park. When I then went to Tesco, I heard Menta snoring fast asleep, when we arrived back home she was so comfortable in the Dog Wagon she wanted to stay in it even though the three Greyhounds had got out as usuak. Anyway I then got Menta into the Bungalow and she and the Greyhounds are all snoozing.

Called into the vets for Menta to be slightly shaved where I have to inject her with the Insulin. Weighed Menta and she was 27.7 kilos as against the 21.4 kilos when it was found she was diabetic. Also had Kelly checked over as she has been having difficulty going to the poo loo over the last couple of days. Kelly's glans were very full especially the right one but no infection. Weighed Kelly and she was 39.2 kilos.
Took them all for a walk along the Swansea Canal and there was a splash as Menta had got too close to the edge and had fallen in so she was swimming lucky she was held by me on her lead via her harness so I was able to pull her out. I then had to take her green Equafleece off her as it was water logged. Took her straight home into the warm bungalow and dried her off with a towel. Must make sure I have a towel in the Dog Wagon, I must have removed them as I did have two in the driver's cab.

Great she is doing so well now Ted that's a good weight gain and she's obviously happier on her walks if she found something so interesting she ended up too close to the canal I hope Kelly will be feeling better now her glands are done When I had to get a new car I ended up having no room at all for all the dog stuff I used squeeze into the rear foot wells. I think I had everything you could need bar a sink to wash them in stored in my old car. Now I only have 1 footwell to fill, so just a few necessities are left in the car. So you have reminded me to get some towels backs in there plus a tourniquet for any future emergencies:-[

Well the results are back and it is great news. Menta is doing extremely well on the two insulin injections of 14 units a day. Her Glusomine is at the right level so it is keeping her diabetics under control.
