Not sure I am looking for advice but bods who understand . Harry's legs have been wobbly for a while but the tramadol seemed to improve things initially but today I have increased the tramadol to 3 a day. He is going back to the vet Thursday for review but think we maybe heading towards some hard descions soon . Just don't know what to do for the best he is getting worse especially the right leg but is still having a little amble around x

Sorry , I'm new to the forum but I'm guessing dear Harry is a Golden Oldie ? It's so very hard watching our beloved hounds grow old . I've been lucky enough to have numerous hounds sharing their lives with me and growing old and have also given a home to oldies in need . It never gets easier , all you can do it take each day at a time . Thinking of you and sending gentle huggle for Harry

Vet had a good look and feel and can see the deteriation especially in the right leg,he is now on robenacoixib for a week to see if this improves things, if not there is the possibility of a tumour in the hip that isn't showing, fingers crossed the non steroidals improve things

Hope they help him, it's such a worry isn't it I've heard good things about that group of meds. If not what about plt's? they work wonders for Sapphy. Everything crossed

Vicky sorry to sound a bit dim what's plts? That's a very good question it's short for a very long name! it's a painkiller with a tiny amount of steroid in it usually used for arthritis. Prednoleucotropin - googled and copied!

How about trying Synoquin one of my Greyhounds has loose hips and painfuk arthritic right legs, and he will be only 8 in January. When I found out about his condition our vet placed him on Loxicom and Synoquin. The back right leg caused him to walk with a limp that I and other dog walkers noticed. Also I found his right legs and hip were extremely hot to touch, since having been on Loxicom and Synoquin the heat has been taken out completelt such that I only have to give him either very intermittently. I also have given him a full size human single bed to sleep on which he and my other 3 hounds have accepted that bed is Mickey's.
