Hi all this seems to be a reoccurring issue with the big fella. Hes got a liquid bum again. Not certain whats caused this one, he was fine last night but I got up to 9 piles of presents this morning !! I remember you clever gappers mentioning a remedy that could be bought on line ( think it was vet uk or viovet) that came in a syringe type applicator, but for the life of me I cant remember what its called. I bought slippery elm last time but I have to be honest I have no idea how to give it to him. Hes been a bit stressed because the local "darlings" obviously got their pocketmoney early and invested in fireworks, but I got him calmex from the vets and also diazapam for the worst nights. Hes been on the calmex since friday and, to be honest, I wont be using that again as i thought it made him panic more because he felt disorientated. Time to order a thundershirt I think ! Any help gratefully received, I have starved him today and hes not had liquid motions since afternoon, but I am worried that leaving him too long will cause a wind build up and cause more issues. Help !!!!

I've had the same reaction with Maddie to calmex - it sent her a bit wappy, really strange, the vet said it can do. He didn't seem to think much to it despite them selling it I've pretty much given up starving Sapphy if she has diarrhoea although I do if she's sick. Instead I give her a small amount of her kibble with no added extras just a little water and she seems to recover more quickly generally. Is this what you were thinking of? A word of advice, give it outside in case it he spits straight out until you get used to giving him it! I see they now do their own which is cheaper, not used it but might be worth a look. www.vetuk.co.uk/dog-supplements-cat-supplements-dog-diarrhoea-cat-diarrhoea-c-5_145/protexin-prokolin-antidiarrhoeal-probiotic-paste-p-249

Thanks vicky I will get some ordered. Poor lad feels very sorry for himself. Not certain whats kicked it off this time.... personally think its a reaction to him getting teased because of weighing in at 38.5kg at the vets last week !!! Sensitive soul my lad !!! Cheers x

Hooray ! Much joy in my house as the big fella seems to be back to his normal scooby doo wannabe ways !!! Had a wobble last night as even though his tum seemed ok he was having what I would describe as tremors after he had eaten but he seems to be tickety boo today !! Its possible there had been a noise I hadnt heard that had upset him, but im keeping him off the calmex and awaiting this thundershirt delivery. If anyone can advise re slippery elm dosage for a 38kg dog I would be grateful as I think he needs start on it. Cheers all xx xx
