My Labrador will happily snooze on the patio - but Peter the greyhound has made it quite clear that he wants a bit more comfort! The garden is gravel and concrete at the moment, but we have ordered some artificial grass. Perhaps he will deign to sleep on that.... The lab has a plastic dog bed which I put outside sometimes, but it's too small for Peter - he has very long legs, and likes to spread out ::)Any ideas, anyone?

Would a good sized strip of vet bed suit him? I often put a quilt on one as the vet bed insulates it and keeps damp off it. We've also got some big flat beds that have washable polar fleece covers over a fully waterproof inner which are good for outside. Unfortunately the place that made them closed but if you have a look around you'll find similar ones. They live in the shed in winter so the waterproof inner over the padding is perfect. Or even a quilt over a tarpaulin if you've got one again to stop the damp.

Yes, that's a good idea - he loves the large pieces of Vetbed we've got indoors. Thanks!

Try the charity shops for a quilt. My 2 have spare soft dog cushions for outside.

We have a summer house in the garden with the kids' toys in. It's got a wicker sofa in it - Nancy has decided this whole shebang is just servicing her little greyhound needs and that it's all some kind of bumper sized dog bed.
The humans' opinion on this arrangement differs somewhat.

If you fancy indulging him how about one of these www.kurandadogbeds.co.uk/Some of the kennel hounds have them and they do wear extremely well.

This is what our two have in the garden, nothing more complicated than a couple of plastic sunloungers with a mattress on top and as you can see they love it!! Sian. x

What a lovely picture. They both look so happy. That's an excellent idea. :-)

Now that is seriously impressive advanced degree level roaching Ours usually jump on and pinch our sunlounger when we stand up or sit on it with us - no wonder we never manage to get on it much That's Lily our new girl. A year ago she was terrified of everything and everybody so it's great to see her relaxing so much!! We never get to go on our sunloungers either and they really are just dog beds now plus you wouldn't want to sit on the mattresses anymore, they're covered in mud! Lily still loves a good roll in the grass and is more than happy to stretch out on the ground but Ernie wouldn't lower himself to sitting on the floor and will stand waiting for his mattress to be put on.

Peter loves to lie on the artificial grass, it's a great success :-)
