Advice again please!! Wallace is either moulting like mad or his hair is just falling out. Molly rarely sheds so have no idea if this might be normal in a lurcher?? He's very well otherwise and eating good quality food. Any advice or thoughts??

Brandy was doing this a couple of weeks ago, I gave her a good brush and bath and loads came out but now she is fine and no more fur has come out, infact she is now really glossy and even more stunning than normal! (Mind you I'm biased) Xx

Did he have a bit of a kennel coat when he came home? It usually takes a while to come out and where I've seen it with greyhounds it really does come out with quite a vengeance!!

I'm not sure what a kennel coat looks like - he had quite a fluffy very soft coat could that be it? Two great answers in just a few minutes- this is why I love greyhound gap!!!

Yes, a kennel coat is kind of courser and thicker - the Gap kennels are great and heated too but nevertheless dogs compensate naturally by growing a thicker coat when they are in kennels. Once they shed that they will moult normally and their coat will tend to be sleeker

Ringo's coat is starting to do the same now, he has been like a fluffy bear despite regular grooming!

Walt's coat has exploded in the past couple of weeks - it's coming out in clouds. I'm pretty sure we could stuff a duvet with what's coming out of him at the moment.

Toby is the same, he does it twice a year and his winter one is just finishing.

My two sandy coloured dogs (one greyhound, one terrierX) are moulting but the two mainly blacks (one greyhound and one GAP girl little Elsie crossbreed) are not. Don't know if there is any significance in that or not!

My other lurcher used to lose all her hair round the bottom area and the top of her legs as it got warmer and her skin used to go really dark, then as soon as it got colder all the fur would grow back again,my old staffie X is moulting a bit at the moment but Moss is looking beautiful and has a really glossy coat with no hair loss, guess they are all different, when I used to brush them outside the little bits of hair flying around used to be picked up by the birds for nesting. Moulting - referred to in this house as 'having the fluffs!' Maple did a huge moult last autumn, so will be due another. Her coat went flat and grey looking, not the usual shiny black.

Definitely moulting Jane! I am dying a slow death under the flurry of 8 dogs throwing fur everywhere! I swear the gingers are the worst

When Brandy was at her worst I used the soft brush attached to the Hoover on her. She actually enjoyed it and went all giddy, rolling around on the bed lol. It actually filled up my Hoover and she looked a lot better after and I'm sure she must of felt better too. Before you shout and call me cruel and evil if she had of shown any type of stress I'd of of course stopped immediately. X
