Nearly 3 weeks ago Angus grazed his knee on his back leg but its not healing because he is licking it (yes I know a lampshade will work) but so is Bertie licking the wound. So please can I have some guidance into inventing a contraption which will stop them both licking it but leaving it to dry out without bandaging it which is nigh on impossible because of its position - tried it.

How about a pair of children's cotton jersey pyjama bottoms? You could cut the leg off the side you don't need, quite close to the waistband so they only cover what you want them to and don't hinder toileting. If you get the type with a cuff on the ankle, they should stay put too.

I gave Lucy some pain relief when she fell into a cattle grid and cut her legs .. I did muzzle her too but I think both helped stop her licking the cuts Wish I'd thought of children's jamas J xx

Have you tried using bitter apple or any of the horrible tasting anti lick sprays around it? We've got one from P@H that helps.

I had the same problem with Flynn licking the hole in Barty's side and had to resort to stitches. I found 'no lick'' from the Vet worked wonders when Tia had an owie.

I have some bitter spray but worry it may hurt when applied, its a bit raw looking. Try holding something over the raw bit and give it a good spray all around. I don't think Maddie's foot was as raw as that but it didn't hurt her although I'm wary of putting stuff directly onto really raw areas. I'd use rubber gloves though if you do that as you'll get it on your fingers and it really is awful and you can still taste it even after thorough hand washing!

Hmmmmm, what about a ping pong ball cut in half with a few holes pierced to let air in and with plaster round the rim to stop it rubbing and elastic through the sides to keep it on

Sarah that made me chuckle, he'll eat a ping pong ball! Certainly inventive! Spray the ping pong ball with something repulsive then I can hear the words "leave it!" being shouted every two seconds from here
