Hi everyone and Happy new Year! Sorry to be a pain but once again I'm after some advice. Brandy has a very embarrassing problem..........her farts absolutely stink! So much so they make me gag!! She has always been quite a fragrant girl lol but the last few days either my sinuses are getting more sensitive or they are getting worse! I mentioned this to the vet and she very kindly gave him an example shortly after He said not to worry too much as her poos are good and firm and she is very healthy! She had bloods done just before her spaying and everything was good. He said some dogs are 'graced' with this problem more than others! I have spoken to her foster careers and they said she was the same there too but recommended charcoal tablets/biscuits as that is what they give their collie. Anyone got got any experience/ recommendations or am I going to be keeping febreeze in business this year They are even worse than the husbands!! ps I haven't changed her food or anything!

No real advice but maybe try a food thats for sensitive tummy. She is already on one for sensitive tums and is eating it! (She is sooooo picky!) so I am reluctant to change unless really necessary. Hmm maybe I could shove one of them fragrance sticks up her backside

I'd say it's a sign that the food isn't suiting her entirely but I know you've had problems. What food is it? Do you pour water over it immediately before you give her it? I add about half a cupful but don't let it stand and go soggy. It can help. You could try giving her some probiotics, either tablets or you could try her with a big spoonful of probiotic yogurt daily.
Another thought, what are you adding to it? could it be chews/treats? we were giving ours wonky chompy chews for ages before we realised they make them sloppy. It's so easy to overlook other things and just focus on the kibble.
Back again! another thought, does she bolt her food? if they do they can swallow too much air and obviously what goes in has to come out! If so there are things you can try to reduce it.

No advice but sharing your pain- Molly's farts are straight from satans bottom and can even wake me up with their vile fruitiness. She has a super sensitive tum too.

I have no advice at all, I'm just going to be very smug and tell you that my two don't fart Ours rarely do and it seldom smells even if you do hear a rip It's taken a lot of trial and error to get them like this. Gracie no longer has kibble at all, she's on naturediet after having severe tummy trouble this summer. It seems she just can't tolerate kibble any more but is fine, fit and healthy with just naturediet and some homecooked now and then for a change.

I remember the first year we had the greys..... Feb, minus 6, fire roaring, snuggling under a duvet on the couch because all the windows fully open as we had exactly the same problem. There are no words to describe the smell. You are probably going to have to change her food. We used 3 before we found a solution.... csj works for our Greys, and it is not too expensive. We have to be really strict, no treats, especially raw hide chews as they will always cause a problem. We allow them a quick chomp on a bone, but only for 10 min or even that causes a problem. You have our sympathy

Thanks everyone, I cut all of her treats out yesterday and she seemed so much better so we are going to see which one it is by slowly reintroducing one at a time to see which type gives her a problem! Will keep you posted!

I have no advice at all, I'm just going to be very smug and tell you that my two don't fart Ok Share Helen, what do yours eat? I've been using Harringtons Lamb and Rice for ages and it's suited my foster dogs too. The only farty pants was Mercy, and her farts weren't toxic at all, just VERY loud!
