Paul do you think maybe a Thundershirt might help at all? Never tried one myself, but have heard that they work, and they are supposed to be for dogs with all manner of anxieties, not just fear of fireworks. Available from various places including P@H. www.petsathome.com/shop/thundershirt-the-best-solution-for-dog-anxiety-56451 who offer a refund if it isn't right for your pet and you return it. Also available on Amazon where they give the sizes equivalent to your dogs chest measurement. i.e. Chest 24"-32" equates to a Large. Some interesting feedback in the reviews on there. Good luck finding a solution for Andy, it must be so miserable when you are scared of something so bad.

TTouch is well worth trying ... it should help at some level and it may be that you need to carry on with it regularly and he will improve slowly -for instance my Lucy grey was terrified of fireworks and would not go out at all after dark when I first got her - two years on she will now go out but does zoom back inside if she hears a bang- even my neighbours banging his door BUT an improvement. Look up on You Tube the ttouches and try ear work and general ttouches such as Lying Leopard or Abalone as easy to do then sleep on a kids teeshirt and put that on him so he feels hugged and it smells of you. You could also try some cottonwool in his ears to muffle the sounds .. any chance you can travel to a quieter place ? I park down the road and walk Lucy to home in the dark so she will hear some bangs but we are heading to safety Julie x

You have my sympathy Tia is terrified of them and fireworks, So she wouldn't go out from mid afternoon during firework season but in the end I sort of forced her,and put her lead on and took her out and she soon got the hang of quickly performing and straight in for a treat. Then she started to go out without the need for a lead but I stayed with her. The Gas guns can be heard from our garden but very muffled. How ever when the mornings get lighter she has to be firmly on lead on the golf course as they are more audible from there. A couple of times she was refusing to get out of the car. Again we lifted her out and continued our walk. She is still wary but much better. She stays on a loose lead I carry on as normalchatting away to her and the others and she is much more relaxed now. She seems to think as long as I'm with her and she's attached to her lead she's safe bless her. Good luck with Andy it must be so disappointing having the lovely field and a noise phobic dog. I hope the vet can help. One other thing when Tia did go outside with me I found she was more relaxed if she was wearing a jumper or coat lol
