The lovely Lupin has split a pad and collected 3 stitches. Can anyone point me in the direction of a waterproof boot which will keep the bandage/foot clean and dry. Also ideas for a homemade boot gratefully received. I bought a Mikki boot from Pets at home and this is useless.
Many thanks for any help

Ask your vet for an empty drip bag. Make little vertical slots around the top to thread a shoelace through and tie it on. I know it looks as if it won't work but it's amazing, really strong and free, great in an emergency if you don't have a boot. Don't try cling film or a freezer type bag, they don't work, give your vet a ring asap to see if they've got a couple. I always have them in our car first aid kit.
Baby socks are ideal if you want to keep the dressing clean in the house but obviously not waterproof, get the ones with long turn back tops. The ones I've had from Asda have either rubber nobbles on the sole or writing in rubber which gives grip. If you put micropore or similar tape round the sock itself just above the wide ankle bit then fold the top down to hide the tape and put tape round that it helps delay removal if they're so minded!
Poor Lupin, hope it gets better quickly.

Oh dear, not another one in the wars with a poorly foot. I know what you mean about the Mikki's... about as much use as a chocolate kettle (mind you, at least you could eat a chocolate kettle, not sure of an alternate use for a Mikki ). I've also heard that drip bags are the best thing to use for out-doors as they're tougher. Good luck James, and a few healing vibes for lovely Lupin of course!

Thanks Vickyb and Alfiemoon.
You were spot on about the drip bag. That was what the Vet put on when she left and I went back to it almost immediately. The Mikki boot is not at all waterproof and the elastic is really rubbish. Although the drip bag looks a bit odd it works beautifully. I took the bandage off yesterday (Vets instruction) and the wound is clean, dry and healing well.I have left it completely uncovered and so far so good. It's all very well for the Vet to say quiet lead walks for a couple of weeks. I feel like I'm walking a snake on a string.
