Hi everyone, we are quite worried about Brandy, she seems to have the runs and it is literally liquid coming out of her bum. (Sorry!) I haven't changed her food or anything and yesterday she had no treats only kibble with 1/2 a tin of sardines. She is still drinking fine and just seems a bit quiet. She finished her antibiotics for her bad teefs yesterday too. Can anyone recommend what to do? I've rang the vet and he said see how she is on Monday. But Monday feels a lifetime away and we are anxious! Sorry for babbling xx

It may be the antibiotics that are causing 'dire rear'. It is quite common. You could try giving her a few tablespoons of natural yogurt or a bio drink such as yakult etc. But naural bio yogurt is best. It helps put the good bacteria back in her gut that the anti biotics may be destroying, this results in an upset tum. Hope she is soon on the mend.

Agree with Lorraine, it could be the antibiotics but half a tin of sardines would give our lot sloppy poo, 1 tin does all 4 but if she's used it then it shouldn't be that. She might have just picked up a bug.
My vet has always said starve them for 24 hrs then give them a small amount of something light like fish or chicken with rice or potato but the thinking now seems to be that it's ok to give a small amount of food if they'll take it and aren't sick. I still tend to starve them then give a tiny amount of food and if it stays in and down a bit more a couple of hours later. If that doesn't work then it's straight to the vets. Good luck!

Agree with Vicky, the half a tin of sardines may be too much for her - it would certainly be too much for my lot. I've usd Slippery elm to help settle a dodgy tum - you can pick it up from health food shops.

I gave her some chicken earlier and a little bit of rice so we will she, she seems really hungry which is a good thing I will see how it goes when it 'passes through' as it has yet to come out and she had it 4 hours ago. She does seem a bit brighter after curling up and sleeping for a few hours too. We will see, thanks for all your help xx

Try mashed potato with no milk or anything added with boiled fish works when my two have dodgy guts but as someone else said it could be the AB's

Sardines and or antibiotics give Molly the poos. I find she responds well to plain boiled chicken and boiled rice. She gets diarrhoea from just about anything so we keep her diet quite bland.

Well once again Brandy the bounce back dog has done just that, problems solved!. She has eaten for England today and loved her rice and chicken - it's her birthday too so we gave her a nice crunchy pigs ear, which she loved! She is now curled up in front of the firein her new jumper that her nana bought her for her 3rd birthday me and the hubby are sat chilling with vino too as it's our very first wedding anniversary xx
