Hetty is practically perfect in every way especially since she has discovered the benefits of sleeping. The only problem that we have is that she wee's, usually on the dog beds when she's left, the rest of the time her house training is perfect. The problem that we have is that she will wee on the dog beds and then continue to lie on them. We've started to take the dog beds up when we go out and this did improve the situation slightly but then she started to wee on our spare bed (OH sleeps in it when he works shifts) so we started to shut the bedroom door. Today I have come home and she has wee'd all over my bed. We both work and all the dogs have an hour long off lead walk first and then go out for wee's before having a bonio just before I leave. Hetty takes her's and goes upstairs, she doesn't appear to be upset and doesn't cry or bark when we leave (they have the run of the house and we leave the radio on) Hetty will also wee if I pop to the shops for an hour

I had this with Erin after she had been here a while, she was totally housetrained but would toilet in the house when left. She would drive me mad it was only when left on an evening though, she didn't normally wee on beds or anything (only very occasionally). I put something down she could wee on so at least it was easy to clean up the floor was always cleaned with the stuff from the pet shop designed to eliminate the smell. One day she just stopped and has been clean ever since. All I put it down to with Erin is that she didn't want me to go to work and she's very stubborn, maybe she just got used to it. She did also seem to get a bit more independent less clingy to dizzy around the time she stopped weeing in the house I can't give you any advice but I do know how frustrating it is

Gracie did this off and on for quite a while after I would say she was housetrained. I bought waterproof mattress covers the next size up and put them over the whole of our made beds (not the papery slippery ones, the soft ones) to limit the damage. Sapphy did it at first too. I just persevered and eventually they stopped but it did take a long time. Obviously lots of praise and a treat for weeing outdoors and totally ignoring them doing it inside apart from the odd occasion when they've done it in front of me when they get a single firm no! You could try the dry nites disposable bed pads on the dog beds but only if you don't think anyone would destroy them as they make a mess!
I take it you're sure she doesn't have a water infection?

Alot do do it on and off in the early days its a bitch thing. Often its not to do with house training but slight anxiety and the fact that most of the young lurchers have led a shed life and had not much space to toilet and as they like soft areas the beds become it basically! I would try her for a few weeks in a crate and use a Dap to see if it makes a difference. Other than that I would close the house down as much as you can and limit access to most areas and try her in a smaller space.

Our old dog Jaz did this when we first had a shop and lived above. She would come down the stairs where she could most probably hear us, and wee on the bottom step. The vet ruled out UTI and we put it down to seperation anxiety and dealt with it accordingly.

Thank you for all your replies, today, for the first time we haven't had any wee's I just hope it continues Funnily enough, we had a similar problem with Gypsy when she arrived and it only stopped when Jimmer arrived

How is she doing now Dawn? Maple did exactly the same for the first few weeks. Our dogs have always had the living room, kitchen and utility room when we leave - beds galore! Maple generally weed on one or more of the beds and then made a right mess scrambling all the bedding around. She was also a bit chewy. As well as going back to puppy toilet training basics when we were home (outside every hour sort of thing, having a party when she weed outside, always taking her outside if she even so much as glanced at the door etc) we shut down the amount of space they had when left. Nothing drastic, just closed off the living room access. They had kitchen and utility room, 4 beds (one spare!), we had a few more incidents but we have been wee free for ages now, and no more chewed books, doors, CDs, bedding - apart from the kitchen table we don't talk about that!

I am sick of warning you lot that these hairies are much more trouble than the angelic smooth coats but you no listen! Its always the rough coats both male AND female that insist on peeing everywhere in the beginning lol. Ask Val about Wobbles!
