Hi Layla loves her pigs ears but goes through them at a rate of knots, so was thinking of trying the cows ears instead. Do you guys n girls have a view on these. Any good? Cows Ears on Amazon

When we had a stall at Wilmslow recently I went to get the dogs something to chew, they didn't have any pigs ears so I bought cows ears, they weren't keen and had a bit of a nibble then left them. I bought them home and the gannets at home did eat them but pigs ears are definitely better tasting I think! I don't buy them now as having a dog on a low fat diet its not fair to her, cows ears however are low fat. Also pigs ears are so expensive and having 6 dogs cant afford them anyway! Have a look on the fish4dogs website at their treats, they are great and better for them and also low fat www.fish4dogs.com/Categories/Dog-Shop/treats.aspxThey do have good offers at times, they aren't cheap but you get lots in the box. Don't buy a huge box first though, you can get small bags which is worth trying incase she doesn't like them! My lot seem to prefer the twists out of all they've had.

Thanks for that, would never have considered fish for a dog. Might buy a small bag to see how she gets on.

Do consider fish for Layla-Jet loves sardines as a change from his usual meat and of course the oil is good for a shiny coat. Jet also likes to share a fish supper on the rare occasions when I have one.

Zooplus, I get stomachs too! I avoid the tripe as it makes my pantry stink!

Whilst ours do prefer pigs ears they also like cows ears. I hate the smell of piggy lugs so they're given them outside. Cows ears are fine inside so they tend to get them in winter. Sapphy's better with the cows ears as the pigs can give her a bad tum. If I get the really big pigs ears Tony cuts them in half. Cows ears are much cheaper too.
