Hi, I'd welcome any opinions, Spook and Elizabeth are little devils for digging up my flower beds and lawn, so, I was thinking, if I bought them a sandpit do you think they would confine their digging to there or do you think it would just encourage them to dig more?

You could try one of the double ones, water and sand. Bracken has dug up nearly all our 3 month old lawn. He kicks his legs up even for a wee. Good luck x

Good luck x Yes Spook is the same, does a poo, then does a celebratory kick up which starts a hole and they then both work on getting to Australia! If it didn't make so much mess and spoil the garden for everyone else it would be funny.

You could try that, possibly not buy one but make one in the corner of the garden, use planks to edge it, dig out the top soil and replace with sand. Hide tests and toys in the sand to encourage them to dig in their digging spot. I think kids' sandpits will be too small and not deep enough.

Cheers, I've been looking at kids ones and they just appear to be 4 wooden planks!! I'll have a chat with Chris about sacrificing a corner of his precious lawn, be good if they would all pee there too!

Skye is another digger and we bought a sandpit to try and discourage her from the flowers and lawn etc But apart from some initial scrabbling around in the sand, she then lost interest in that and instead, proceeded to thank us all for providing her with a.......... super new toilet!! She still dug in the lawn and flower beds , ..... so the sandpit was sold on!! But thats Skye!

To be honest I'm worried that mine will do the same, we spend hours and money sorting it out for them and the little sods just continue with the lawn and flower beds!

That's why you'll need to keep putting treats in the sandpit so they'll stick with it.

Yep we kept putting treats and hiding bones and things in the sand pit but all Skye did was to dig em up and then go and bury them in the lawn and flower beds. She is obviously a creature of habit and preferred to dig where she chooses and not where we were trying to encourage her.. obstinate bossy little mare. But good luck with yours if you go ahead.
