As some of you might remember Peppa had a high speed run-in with an immoveable object last week which ended up with her having staples to a cut on her knee (which has healed brilliantly) and a large cut on her thigh (which hasn't). The injury on her thigh broke down over the weekend and the skin pulled away from the staples The vet did a bit of a patch up job with more staples, but said the same thing may well happen again and if it does then we'll just leave it open to heal in its own time.
We go through lots of cuts and bruises with Pep, so we're fairly used to keeping wounds clean etc etc etc, but I wondered if anyone had any good tips for speeding things up. The wound is about an inch across and hasn't gone through muscle - just pulled the skin away She is modelling a wonderful array of children's pj bottoms to stop her licking although I have had to up the ante and fashion a patch to stick on them with a sandwich of deep heat in an attempt to keep her away from it. She is with one of us all the time so we can keep an eye on her, and sleeping on our bed (therefore neither of us is getting any sleep, although judging from the amount of snoring Peppa is enjoying a little luxury).
So any advice on helping to speed up the healing process and tips for stopping her licking as well as keeping horrid flies away would be most appreciated. It needs to heal asap because Peppa + no exercise = whirling, screaming, trouble causing coo-beastie
