My greyhound/whippet cross Eddie suffered a puncture wound to the side of his chest, almost certainly from a branch. He's lucky, it penetrated his chest cavity, but didn't puncture his lung. 2 operations later, he is on the mend. But he is only 2 years old, and despite my best efforts I worry it will happen again. I have started to look at protective vests. For gun dogs there is neoprene, but would be hot and not very cut proof? In America there are cut vests for hog hunting dogs! But differing materials, Kevlar, 3 layers of 1000 denier Cordura, or Viper cloth (intended for snake protection). I shall e mail suppliers and ask about fit and weights, but wonder if anyone has any thoughts/experience.

And I was worried about cuts and scrapes!
The advice given to me on here was that it is inevitable that they get small wounds. I think you (or rather Eddie) must have been very unlucky. I'm still worried about cuts etc when they chase around the garden, but I'm having to live with it. I looked for suitable leg protection but couldn't find anything. Anyway most times they just potter about - just the occasional mad run.
Judging by the lack of replies to your question, no-one else has had a similar injury. I'm still hoping someone may have some good advice for me on my cystitis question - well Gizzi is weeing a bit more than usual and recently had cystitis. These hounds are a worry!!!
