Since February bird scarers have been audible from the golf course where we exercise our dogs. Obviously we never know when they will start but it was earlier this year.Amazingly noise sensitive Tia ignored them , she just pricked her ears and carried on playing and chasing. The test with her is whether she will take a treat if she wont she's scared. She's been fine and we thought she'd just got over her fear until last week. They have been getting louder (but less frequent) one day she froze and looked ready to take flight, I clipped her lead on and she hasn't been off lead since. Now she is refusing to get off her bed to go out. I eventually coax her but today I had a real job getting her out of the car. She is unhappy walking , I try to keep calm with her and keep it all relaxed and light hearted. She was miserable at the Gap show on Sunday which was a surprise as she really seems to thrive on and enjoy social events, it didn't strike me until later she was probably waiting for the bangs. So the question is should I insist she come out with us, or leave her at home. Where ever we go around here the noise is audible from the fields a mile away and as we go out before Dave goes to work we can't travel far. If we leave her at home she won't know when they have stopped and may still refuse to come out. Any advice would be welcome I feel so sorry for her as she really enjoys a run and Flynn is now having to run with Dilly who bullies him.

There are times Nell wants to go for a walk then we get there and we have to turn round and come back. Could it have been the fox episode? Hope she is okay xx

Its not black dog syndrome is it? Joe has that atm, some days he bounces around like a loon to go walkies then other days he lays on the sofa with his best Feck off face and refuses to move! He is fine in himself, eating well, bouncing around the house playing with toys but prefers to stay home so I let him and don't make a fuss of it. He chose on Saturday to go on a long walk with Fran and myself and the hounds and then did the Gap show on sunday and has refused to walk since, I think he is knackered Joe is a very special boy and I just let him do exactly as he wants to

Its very unlike Tia she's always up at 5.30 ready for her walk, I would leave her at home but worry if it is fear of the noise she will never realise when it's safe because she's at home and just not want to come out again. She has had a couple of off leads since the Fox incident so I don't think it's that she's pretty fearless apart from loud or sudden noises. I might leave her behind for a couple of days and then try her again at the week end . She normally kicks off if any of them go out without her so maybe I'll load them in the car and go back in and see if she still wants to stay behind.

It's just like Maddie although she's doing well at the moment. I always make her go for 1 walk -the morning one but if she's very anxious I let her stay home later on. She's even snarled and lunged as if to bite us at times because she doesn't want to go. It might be worth leaving her for a day or 2 and see if it helps. I love it when it's windy as it seems to act like white noise and she doesn't hear it. She's exactly the same re treats - they're a perfect sign as to how stressed she is whether she'll take one or not We've been giving Mads these www.vetvits.co.uk/dog-supplements/magicalm/productdetail-p15883-c1786997.aspxand they do seem to be helping so far. We've had various stuff from the vets but I don't want to have her on it constantly. Feel for you all, it's horrible

Linda,
How's Tia doing? Is she over this crow-scaring thing now?

Linda, How's Tia doing? Is she over this crow-scaring thing now? Thanks for asking , the crow scarers finally stopped about ten days ago. Unfortunately the first time Tia went off lead she got over excited , ran off out of sight and tore the tendons in her toe so is now on restricted exercise for four weeks. Lead walks only for about twenty minutes. The flipping crow scarers have started again any way.: Since going to the vets for her dental and xrays yesterday she's refusing to move at all if I put her lead on, which she is supposed to have on even in the garden.I dont know if she associates it with the bangs or if she thinks she\s going back to the vets. Shes already shot past me twice and gone charging up the garden after cats when the others went out. It's going to be a long four weeks
