My elderly next door was asking me if I could suggest something for her to do. She enjoys knitting - so I suggested knitting a coat for Gap.
I know NOTHING about knitting - so she was wondering if there was a pattern. Is a coat a good idea - or is there anything else?

I have patterns I can email to you, if you can print them out and pass them on? Depending on how nimble her hands and fingers are, the bigger jumpers can be a bit heavy to manoeuvre on the needles. If she's up to knitting human jumpers, then she'll be fine. Other than that, the button chest coats in smaller sizes are easy to knit and sell quite well at the Show I'm more than happy to sell anything she makes for Gap at future Shows, on her behalf (please don't feel under any obligation to do this though if she has other plans) Everything I make from sales goes to Gap anyway and I mainly use donated wool. Moira x

Moira x Moira, I'm glad you say that smaller coats sell well, as these are the ones, I prefer doing, but sellling via forums is not cost effective with postal costs. I have two (and one not yet completed ) that can go towards the Gap stall. Do human fancy scarves sell, as these are even easier to produce ? My last two went for £3 each (plus postage) by auction.

The Stoke library system has a book called Fashion Dog, which has lots of dog coat patterns, suitable for various shapes, including daxis.

That's very kind of you Barbara, thank you. I've never sold scarves on the stall, but Rose Marie sold some via the Gap forum - including one to me I'm happy to give them a go in September and a few different items may boost sales too Moira x
