Hi - I'm back again. Now I have 2 greys, there seem to be lots of minor cuts and scratches on legs after play. I have been round the garden cutting out sticky outy twigs from the shrubs but it hasn't helped.
I tried looking for leg protectors on line but can't find anything that looks suitable.
Can anyone suggest anything? Does anyone else even have this problem?
The trouble is they run across the lawn and into the bushes and have now developed a little flight path. We like our natural looking garden and don't really want to get rid of all shrubs, but is that the only answer?

Yep, we have that problem sometimes. Their skin is so thin it's easily scratched and scraped. As long as its nothing too serious I just let them get on with it. If it needs it ill give it a wipe with some salty water. Cerys' legs are covered in scars! Xxx

Ditto!...think its something we just get used to. Maddy is like a whirlwind off lead She has loads of scars on her legs, some worse than others. She was the only one of three dogs running on the beach that came back with all her feet bleeding!.. We just bathe to clean and check the wound is only minor and leave to heal. A greyhound's skin is like paper and as I say, just something we get used to..

Join the club - greys are very vulnerable to this. They have skin like paper . I am constantly cleaning up cuts with mine Maryx

Likewise, Jimmy (non GG hound) only has to peek outside sometimes and he springs a leak.

It's just as well that I've always got some saline solution mixed up then. Looks like it's going to be used regularly. At the moment I'm waiting for a foot injury to heal before letting them loose together so we're having a respite, just bathing the foot as she cut between her pads and it was quite bloody so a trip to the vet was necessary for that one.
Still - if anyone does have a method of leg protection I would be interested to hear...

You could wrap a layer of vet wrap round them or baby socks, the long sort and cut the feet off, wrap a bit of tape round the top to hold them on. I put the tape round the sock not on the skin and it holds them up. My lot have all got bumped lower legs with scars on them. Baby socks are useful for putting over dressings on cut feet, put tape on the sock to hold it up then fold the top of the sock down and it confuses them because they can't find an 'end' to get hold of if that makes sense.

I'll have a look at the baby socks but may make some velcro fasteners to hold them on. I can usually anticipate when play is imminent so can prepare for action. Fortunately it isn't more than once a day. I will have to try and find a safe running area for them. Gizzi is fine off lead, but Lena may never be, and she certainly isn't ready at the moment. The trouble is I can't let Gizzi off either as Lena goes mad if she sees greys or lurchers running. Gizzi didn't bother to have a run more than about once a week when she was an only dog.
On another topic - having 2 girls is much easier than I anticipated. They aren't best friends, but are relaxed in each others company, and take turns chasing when they are playing. Apart from the injuries having 2 is greyt!!!

We call it 'bramble rash' There's a variety of balms that you can spend your money on. A gentle wash with a saline solution seems as good as anything
