Hi Helen, yes I spoke to the vet today and he seems to think its not too serious and might be controlled by diet. She's still on antibiotics and will have some ulcer type medication for a while. She's stopped being sick and hasn't been crying so hopefully tummy ache has stopped. Just have to wait and see whether it comes back when the antibiotics stop. She's much improved in herself though so fingers crossed xx

Really hoping that Nancy is feeling much better and that you can control it well. Salmon and potato complete is also worth looking at as is fish for dogs main food. I know quite a few people with pancreatitis dogs who feed this

Thanks Lisa. The problem is persuading her to eat it. I tried fish 4 dogs last year and she turned her fussy nose up at it! I will try again when she's back on dry food, perhaps mixed with the wainwrights that Sue suggested, (which is on special offer at the moment...)

Hi Tina I'm new to the forum so forgive me for butting in, or saying the wrong thing but..... one of our little dogs had pancreatitis for years until the point where we thought he would have to be put to sleep, his life was so miserable and he was at the vet every few weeks. We tried everything, medication, vet diets etc. etc. We then tried feeding him raw, starting with Natural Instincts low fat 'Special Diet' - it saved his life - he has been full of beans and happy now for over a year! I was reluctant to feed raw as I hate it but it has been so successful that we now feed all the dogs Prize Choice free-flow mince together with other raw meat, fish and offal. Hope this helps - Jane

Thanks Jane she is eating some low fat food reasonably happily now but I did think about a raw diet, I was a bit concerned I wouldn't be able to ensure it was low fat. Glad your little boy is doing well on his diet. Tina

Glad he is doing so well. If you ever decide to try raw do pm me - my partner and I have a lot of experience of working out low fat raw diets! We had a slight hiccup yesterday with our little one. With pancreatitis you have to change the protein source every now and then - It's really hard to change a food when they are doing OK - but we changed him to turkey and he is fine again!

I have been advised to feed low fat for my hound who has insulinoma. It's so confusing! I found this article m.wikihow.com/Read-a-Pet-Food-Labelwhich helps you to understand how the fat content of wet food works, I had no idea! I have bought some chappie tins to try as they seem to be fairly low fat for wet food. He had the royal canin low fat after his surgery (to prevent pancreatis) but he refused to eat it so don't really want to spend more money on that! I hope your dog gets better soon

Same to you bdiddy
Nancy seems to be doing well on the Wainwrights very low fat turkey and rice trays from Pets At Home. :-)
