Yesterday morning Lace started pacing and panting and was very restless. Not eating or drinking. Tummy soft and gum colour good. Had a wee and a poo It seemed to me that she was in pain although she has been like this when there was thunder(none here) . Phoned vet earliest appointment was 5pm. Gave her some rescue remedy and she settled for a while. After lunch OH went to take max out for a walk and she wanted to go as well. Got to end of road small wee and back home. Started being restless, panting and scratching tried to get appointment moved forward. Very nice young vet thorough unable to find anything of note except she has lost 1 kg in past 6 months. Offered to keep her in but Ipreferred to watch her at home . He gave her a painkiller and took bloods. She has been zonked out . had a little drink of milk and water this am and is a bit more alert although not moving. Could this be neurological? Senile Any similar experience?

Poor Lace was only thinking about her yesterday. Due to her getting on a little now Sibs I would be taking in a urine sample and asking for full blood work up just to check her levels over etc. If that showed nothing and she was still restless I think next step would be to consider an ultrasound of the abdomen incase she has something going on there. The pacing and panting to me I usually associate with either stress as you have seen before or something not right and sore in the tummy area.

Thank you all for your advice and good wishes. She does seem more comfortable and alert today but not getting up She has had some more straight water and some milk and water but am still waiting to get a urine sample. The blood results should come through later today and he did talk about the possibility of an ultrasound. Dear Lisa you really should have been a vet but then I guess wouldn't have had time to do the wonderful caring you do do.But you would have been able to earn lots of lolly drive a nice sports car and tell people off when they don't listen to you ;D I shall keep you posted. oops.... interlude.... I now have a urine sample .

Is she just pacing and panting while indoors and if so, could something new have frightened her ?
I ask , because some years ago , we had something similar with Benji, our collie cross and discovered that it was the scent of some new bubble bat. When our son walked into the room, fresh from his bath and wrapped in a towel, Benji fled to the back door, where he cowered. As he was a rescue, perhaps he had a bad experience with the scent, in a previous life.

Lots of good thoughts from us for Lace and I hope you find out soon if she's got something wrong with her. The waiting is always horrible and at least when you get a diagnosis you can start treating it and hopefully get her feeling better. Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious and she'll be fighting fit again in no time. x

Just a little update. Lace is moving around a little more steadily, drinking and more interested in food. Not quite her normal self but definitely better. The bloods so far are unremarkable as is the urinalysis. the pancreatitis test should be thro today. We are due to see the vets this pm. Unfortunately the young italian vet is off today but he has booked me in with another good vet who has seen Lace before and did her mammary strip and is good with ultrasound . I can't sing the praises of the young vet enough. He has been so thorough ,so caring of Lace and so clear and considerate with me. I am pretty sure this is some physical episode. Thank you so much for your good thoughts. Each time I prepare myself for the worst my old bean bounces back and I am seeing the glimmers of a bounce
