Harry has had a brown sometimes bloody discharge from his snozz (usually find dog snot on the cupboard rather than dripping nose) for a couple of weeks and is on antibiotics. He is much brighter than he was and it has improved a bit but still happening. The vet has started with the simple things first but has said that cant exclude a tumour. He goes back on Monday for review and book date for dental, which they will xray at same time if still happening. Does anyone have expirience has this happen? He is coming up for 10 now. Helen

I hope that Harry is just having an infection, but our Benji, who was a 7 year-old collie cross, had bloody nose discharge (usually overnight) and did have a tumour. However, it was evident (large lump on his forehead) , long before the discharge began. It did come up quickly, though, and we thought he'd bumped his face on the corner of the shed, so were quite shocked when the vet said it was a growth.
If it does happen to be bad news, the comforting thing is that we were told that Benji would have no pain and he didn't, enjoying life to the last. The pts decision came when the size of the tumour began to raise his eyelids, which would have soon resulted in his being unable to close his eyes properly, causing discomfort.
