hi all, charlie boy is 4 ish and has been with us for 2 years more recently he has become a bit destructive in the house. I take him out of a morning before work then he has grandad or granny come over for a walk at lunch then out again when i get home then again before bed so he is well exercised and has some company through the day. When left inbetween the above time slots he has pulled back my carpet and chewed the underlay, chewed the computer lead, shreaded any paper in sight and loves throwing cushions all over the front room i thought he may be lonely and thought about another but having two running riot puts me off. Any suggestions?

If he enjoys shredding stuff then give him things he can shred, ok it makes a bit of a mess but is easily cleared up and your carpet will be safe.
Get some different sized cardboard boxes and pop a few treats in each box, then put them inside each other and seal them up really well a bit like pass the parcel or those russian dolls and then leave it with him when you got out. You could also stuff a kong with treats and cream cheese (primula cheese works), he'll have to work quite hard to get all the treats and cheese out of a kong, that will keep him busy too.

After 16 months with our only greyhound Gizzi we decided to go for it and added a friend. Gizzi has come out of her shell even more (she isn't very forthcoming and it was a long hard slog to get her to enjoy our company) and also wants to play with Lena lots.
However, on the subject of chewing - Gizzi never did, but Lena will chew anything so has to be watched constantly. When we are not there they are in crates side by side and that takes all the worry out of the chewing.
The thing that has surprised us is how much we are just enjoying having two dogs. It was a big decision, but after only 6 weeks we are loving it. And we feel it has enriched Gizzi's life.
We give things to chew when they are crated, and Lena has a chicken flavour Nylabone which she loves.
The main downside of having two is the state of what was our lawn!
