In the past couple of months, he has become a bit aggressive towards my 3 boys! He does have his crate where he goes for time to himself but we have recently had a couple of attempted biting incidents when the kids have been playing round him! Also last week he bared his teeth at me and try to bite me as I closed the door to his crate, he is fine with my husband but growls and shows me his teeth even when he comes to me for attention! We have consulted a behaviourist who is coming at the weekend, but if this is not successful I have to put my kids first and re home my boy! I although this will only be if we can't sort it out! I'm sure u can understand how sad we r about this, when we brought him back we thought we were giving him a family for the rest of his life, so fingers crossed it gets sorted cos we don't want to lose him! Any ideas people!. Please

I'd start with a vet check and chiropractic check too ....the behaviourist will check how long he's in the crate for, what the children are doing around him and if there's a problem with the other dogs ... TBH its probably better he goes somewhere he's happier ...

This is somewhat similar to my Teddy, who at the time was the youngest of four cavaliers (known for their gentle ways, so such a surprise). A vet check showed nothing up and he to was fine with my husband , except for a half hearted growl if asked to move.
Cavalier rescue would not have taken him, as they won't risk a dog who has bitten (he bit me when attempting to groom, growled at two others, but left the passive boss alone). As it was a case of work on him or pts, there was no option.
Things I did were: no allowing on our bed (he was crated at night),making him work (eg high 5, sit or something) to earn a treat or attention, doing exchanges if he had something he shouldn't have (this backfired as he still steals to get attention) and crating him when really in a mood, for the other dogs' safety (he actually took to crating himself when moody).
Nowadays, he is absolutely fine in the house and will allow me to do things the others would have refused (eg pull out a loose tooth), obedient when the grandchildren visit, even coming away if they have sweets in their hands. he's also the one i can call off if Joly taunts and growls at him.
Unfortunately, outside was not such a success as he thinks other dogs and people are fair game, so he's never let off lead and i'm always on edge when out with him.
