Hi all, i have had charlie boy for 2 years and am now wondering if he is ready for a girlfriend? I am just not too sure what would be best i would prefer a bitch but would have another lad long as they got on. Any advice and experience from you guys would be helpful, thanks

I would recommend a bitch .... they usually settle more quickly with the opposite sex.

i would say a bitch , we have always had the opposite sex to the hound at home and we have had no trouble or any fights ever , good luck to you , how exciting

Introducing a bitch would probably prove easier, just so long as Charlie boy is thoroughly laid back and doesn't object to being bossed about that is. Girls always tend to take charge in my experience.
Having said that I know folks with two male hounds that seem to get along just fine. I think it really all depends on the dogs and their temperaments.

I have a boy and a girl - Milly is definatly the boss!!! It all works out though because Joey is so chilled out and just ignores her if she is shouting at him. WHat I find funny is that if Joey is lieing down Milly will snuggle up as close as she can - when Joey gets fed up he calmly gets up and moves. If Joey snuggled up by Milly she would shout at him!!
I fostered a boy for a few weeks as well and found that him and Joey were so laid back they just got on with life but Milly was really bossy and put him in his place.
I think its all down to individual dogs! They sometimes choose each other! And be prepared for fur to fly a little bit - its normal you just have to do the best you can to avoid it! (taking toys up, being careful with treats and food etc)

I always have one of each. I think they balance really well and I've never had any problems.
