I wormed all the dogs this morning with Drontal Plus, they were the flavour bone shaped tabs where you use one tab per 10kg of bodyweight. Billie, Cara and now Alfie have just thrown up within an hour of each other, they've spread it about abit, sofa, bed, carpet and outside They seem ok now, all lying here waiting for their tea, bless them Solo seems to be the only one keeping it down. Thing is I've used Drontal before and never had this happen, has anyone elses dogs been like this and what do others use for worming instead of Drontal. Jacqui

Mine are due worming and I've just bought the drontal bone shaped ones so I'll let you know. Joe was sick once so I stopped giving them the tablets on a full stomach and worm them around midday and they've been fine since then.

I've given Jet the bone shaped Drontal with no ill effects.

My dustbin who'll normally hoover a drontal with no questions asked did turn his nose up at the bone shaped ones (we had to wrap them in ham to get him to take them) so I think there's something different in them at the very least.

Dex did this the last time I wormed them, but I'd used Cestem. Not had any problems with Drontal before. They're due now, I think I'll take Sue's advice and dose them on empty stomachs, Dex was so poorly, bless him, but no lasting ill effects Emma x

Can't say my 2 hounds are ill on them either and they're able to take them just before a big meal. Mind you our old collie (now at bridge) couldn't take them, made him really sick, so he'd have Panacur instead. Perhaps, some can and some just can't. Good luck with your 3. Bad luck with the ol' cleaning up.

Nell was always, always violently sick after taking Drontal, so we switched her to Milbemax and she was fine and dandy . Jo x

Thank you people, I'll look at Panacur and Milbemax as alternatives. I'll be giving Drontal a wide berth from now on I'm afraid

I've never had trouble with the chewy ones or the older type.
Unless it's been changed recently, Panacur doesn't treat tapeworm, which Drontal does.

I've had mixed results with Drontal and Cestem too, some violently sick others not so I've switched to Milbemax, costs more but never had a problem. I tried giving it 20 mins before a meal last time but the girls were all really sick so swore never again. Bod was fine

I wonder whther it's something to do with swallowing a nin food, rather than the actual content of the drug. Teddy has been on one Atopica a week for a number of years , but, very occasionally he is sick straight away.
