Ahhhhh but, none of you has answered . . . so how daft a question is it really, eh? Eh? You're probably all too busy turning your hounds upside down as we speak . . . ;D ;D ;D ;D Jo x

Can't believe it is 9.30 on a Friday night and I am "Googleing" dogs and belly buttons But does this answer your question?? Yes they're born with umbilical cords and have belly buttons in the form of (usually) a small bump. But unlike human, dogs' belly buttons are sometimes "invisible". When the mother took excellent care of them (licking & disconnecting them), the navel seems flat (no bump) and with fur growing on it, you may not be able to find it. A little trick is to look closely on your dog's belly, there should be a spot where its fur grows in a 'swirly' manner (not flat or in the same direction as the rest). That spot is most probably where your dog's navel is. Also, if your dog's a female, you'll be able to see her navel clearly when she's pregnant (since about four weeks along). Jeez! I am sad.

You don't have to look under mine.Finger at base of willie, moving centrally forward and a small thickened skin area is soon felt (dog not impressed). Others have had a slightly raise circle with dimpled centre.
