Brooke has a tiny (less than 1/4") cut on the pad of one of her toes, it doesn't look very deep but as she is walking on the road she limps now and again (this only happened yesterday) - I am soaking it in salt water and have just put some antiseptic cream on with a light bandage - is there anything else I can do to heal it quickly as when we went out for our walk I bandaged it and put a plastic bag over it to keep it clean and Brooke looked like she was doing the Hokey Cokey waving her leg about!

Sounds to me like you are doing everything right. Providing she doesn't lick it, I might be tempted to take the bandage off at night and let some air in. Watch for any swelling or redness. If this occurs I would get her to a vet. Hope she back on all her feet soon Maryxx

Thanks I have only been putting the bandage on when going out for a walk as she is fine in the house - she hasn't licked it once thank goodness. Bracken she is waiting for you to come and kiss her paw better - and happy birthday for next week.

You could give her homeopathic Silicae 30c in case there's anything in it - 3 tabs twice a day, tip tabs into the lid and into her mouth so you don't touch them ... a friend's grey has just had some glass taken out of her pad after xrays etc shoed up nothing Hope she's ok .. oh and drip bags from vets are great for keeping paws dry in the rain Julie

I'd reduce or stop walks for a couple of days as long as that doesn't have her leaping up the walls ;D If she does start to lick in the house babies socks make good loose dressings just tape the top round her leg. I always have some in. Like Julie I use drip bags, again I ask the vet for them and always have 1 in, they're incredibly strong. Hope there's nothing in it and it heals up quickly

Thanks for all your suggestions - have been giving her Silicea just in case, she seems lots better today and I'm probably just being over cautious and keeping it covered for our walks, just come back from a walk and she didn't limp once. She is bouncing round the house even after having a walk ;D

Hmmm 1/4" cut sounds serious, especially if she's boinging and notlimping I'm not medically trained but can recommend blankies, sossijes and cuddles.

Oh believe me she is getting all of the above - and last night in bed (my bed) she had her poorly paw stroked and kissed and she even had a lullaby sung to her - not that she's spoilt or anything ;D
