Can anyone recommend a dog bed for my 12yr old greyhound, Gordon. He currently sleeps in our room on a couple of duvets. He does sleep wearing his pyjamas for warmth as well.
Just recently he has started to wake in the night and pace. I think it's his arthritis making him feel uncomfortable.
Any ideas?

A memory foam dog bed might help him, they also are quite warm too. What is he taking for his arthritis?

I have started him on Joint Aid for greyhounds. He has been on it for about 3-4 weeks now but not seen any change.

I got a big chunk of memory foam very cheap from ebay. It did smell quite chemically but I left it outside to air, put it in a quilt cover and use it with a quilt on top. Alternatively you could try a cot bed mattress - I got a new one cheap off ebay but you could look for a used one, makes a really good supportive bed. Again I put a quilt on top. It's a similar size to a single quilt folded in half. They have a pillow on it too ;D It came with a waterproof cover in case of accidents. Both have the advantage of insulating them from drafts and cool floors.
Proper memory foam dog beds of a decent depth are very expensive.

I got a memory foam topper (double bed size) from freecyle - Brooke loves it folded over and in a cover.

Supplements tend to take 4+ weeks to kick in and make a difference.

Thanks for the memory foam idea. I will get searching on ebay now. I will keep going with the supplements. Hopefully it will make him more comfortable.

I've got a very expensive memory foam bed from Orvis which is wonderful. However for new dog I got a cheap crate bed from local pet shop - £6.99, plus Ikea 7.5 tog duvet with cover - about £25, and have just added Aldi memory foam bed £14.99. Not really cheap, but both dogs love it and it was soooo much cheaper than Orvis bed. I arrange the edge of the duvet so that it is slightly raised making bed like a nest.

I use these www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/dogs/dog_beds_baskets/hygienic_beds for my 14 & a half yr old disabled greyhound girl: memory foam, and waterproof, with a small raised side. Size 100 x 80cm is is more than big enough for her; she can get in the smaller 75 x 80cm but can't stretch out in that one. I add a base pad from a long defunct fabric bed, and a variety of old single quilt covers and blankets to make it cosy for her, and easy for me to throw in the washing machine if ever there's an 'accident'. The bed itself is wipe clean.
