Hello all, Here's a way we can donate to Greyhound Gap, but save money in the process - everyones a winner. I'll service your car in return for a donation to Greyhound Gap. I'll tile your bathroom in return for a donation to Greyhound Gap. I'll paint your house in return for a donation to Greyhound Gap. I'll build your shed / fix your leaks / fix your car etc in return for a donation to Greyhound Gap. And so on. In short, I'm a mechanical engineer with lots of experience in building / fixing things. I have built my own narrowboat from scratch, that my wife and I now live aboard, and Ive always service my own cars etc. And I'm willing to do the jobs that you would normally pay through the nose for, in echange for a donation to Greyhound Gap. All I ask is: You cover the cost of parts / bits needed for whatever job, and my fuel cost if I have to travel far. Also, please be realistic about what you donate to Gap. Obviously I don't want to spend a year building you a house in return for a 50p donation to Gap.
In offering my skills / labour, it means that we can put money that you would have spent, towards the hounds, instead of into some big business's pocket.
If you have any job you need doing(whatever it may be) and are looking at paying someone to do, please give it some thought, you'll get it done cheaper this way and Gap will benefit.
P.S. Im based near Furness Vale, Derbyshire and don't mind working at evening / night if it makes things more convenient.

You aren't too far from Stoke and we will need the house painting, but need to get the kitchen and new boiler sorted first. That may involve a little tiling as the kitchen man said they can't guarantee to preserve my present tiles, which I like and can't have replacement oddments provided.
It would involve only a few square metres of tiling, but the whole house needs decorating (Most of the paint already bought).
If you are interested (may be in several months' time, as we are slow at sorting things), I'll get a quote to get an idea of a fair price.

Oh Frank do you and your wife fancy a holiday in Stoke when I go away? You can then sort everyones jobs and I want my livingroom stripping skimming and painting and some men come in lay new flooring. Would be much easier for me to get it done when I am not here and the 9 dogs have vaccated! I am going away 10th November.

Hi all, Thanks for the offer of the various jobs for Gap. The only one I'm not keen on is the skimming for Lisa, thats purely because I've never done skimming before so couldn't guarantee a good job. Other than I'm happy to do them all. Lisa, I like the idea of a holiday in Stoke, but will have to check on when Tracey is working and also on what my work shifts for November, but it is a great idea, and it would be good to be able to do a few jobs in one trip. Like I said, the only thing I ask is a donation for Gap and if I have to do a reasonable amount of driving, then a donation towards diesel (as my funds are quite frugal at the mo), but thats all. If Tracey is working then she will need our van, and I'll be working some casual shifts over winter but they are our only two limitations on when I can / can't do things really, but am happy to try fit people in when is best for them etc, and also work evenings / nights to get the jobs done. My number if you need it is: 07501 622193. Feel free to call any of you want a chat about what you need doing or timescales etc, or even just a natter about dogs. Looking forward to being able to help you all out and also raise money for the dogs. Thanks Frank

Or taking it the tip and binning the lot havent decided yet ;D Let me know if Tracy is off oh and we are about 15 minutes from the Roaches aswell

We have various jobs that we would love to have done (I'm about hiring people as you hear so many tails about cowboys), but we are definitely interested.

Hi kats-n-greys, Yep I know what you mean about hiring people and never knowing what you're gonna get. I'm happy to help out if I can, and rest assured I don't take on a job unless I know I will do it well, hence my last post avoiding Lisa's skimming.

I am going away 10th November. Lisa, the mid November looks like it may be a little difficult as Tracey is working in Bakewell and I will be be doing casual work in Stockport for November and December. That's in terms of coming over for a length of time, but that's not to say that I won't get a couple of days free when Tracey won't need the van, so I can get there and do the job. It's basically just trying to juggle having the van for transport (meaning Tracey not working) and also knowing that I'm going to be free. I know I'll have free time but I dont have my shift rota yet so don't know exactly when. However, don't give up on me, I'm still happy to do it if we can fit it in with a way that suits you.

I'm glad your offer is still open and mentioned this over the weekend. Still not sorted the kitchen, yet but will need , decorating (all rooms), a couple of tiles replaced in the bathroom ,possibly, tiling of the kitchen (depending on whether the fitters can preserve the present tiles) and curtain rails fitted. Also, laying carpet tiles in two rooms (a job I'd intended to do myself -some hope nowadays)
