Nancy's pushing 9 years old now - not really showing any signs of slowing down (hard to slow down from a permanent stop on the sofa), but the last few days she's really slipped a good 2-3 times on the kitchen floor... we used to have a really disgusting rug down but my MIL threw it out when I was in the hospital having the baby - I'm just wondering if it's the sudden onset of the rainy weather making the floor slippier, or if it's something more worrying... she doesn't seem bothered by it at all though.

If you can put down some non slip flooring I would. There is so much attracive rugs/runners on the market maybe you could persuade your OH they make the place look better.

I'd put some rugs or something down quick before she hurts herself. There have been some nasty injuries (and vet bills) from dogs doing the splits on slippery floors.

Non slip vetbed, I've put a piece down near the door as mine come hooning in at 90mph and if its wet they do slip. Saves on injuries Trevors the worst here, he gallops everywhere ;D

Saves on injuries Trevors the worst here, he gallops everywhere ;D Normally she runs in, jumps from the door mat to the dog basket and hitches a skid ride across half the kitchen floor. Not quite sure what we can do - we're broke as a joke at the moment so really can't afford to pay out for anything easily at the moment (curse my interfering MIL chucking our our kitchen rug).

Could you perhaps get one from freecycle or similar? eBay can be fairly cheap too?

At least it's both of them that are now going slidey - I think it's just readjusting to the weather. Will seek out a new rug (but not putting it down till after new baby's born and MIL is well shot of being able to throw it away again!)
