Can anyone offer some advice?... A female cowprint greyhound was dumped by a woman in a remote pub in the Peak District on Saturday. A bloke in the village where we work, took her in as a stop gap but cannot keep her as he lives in rented and she is living in his van at the moment He says she is a very friendly girl and he is seeking help in finding somewhere safe or her to go. Can anyone help me by giving me any advice that I can pass on to him or where else he can contact for help? He is desperate that she doesn't end up in the wrong hands.. Thanks, Janice x

Well, its been a hell of an emotional day .... Firstly, I was disappointed that Lisa didn't have time to reply to my pm, but although I've never done this before, I managed to get in touch with RGT Head Office and from her earmark, they gave me her birth date, rehoming date, where she raced and her race name. They suggested I contact a couple of the branches in our area and gave me the numbers. Sheffield couldn't help, but Lancs were a tremendous help as she had raced at Belle Vue. Martin had to fetch the dog and take her to the vets to get her scanned to see if she was chipped, which she wasn't. He said although she was very smelly she was really lovely and happily jumped into our car. She had been rehomed in 2009 so has obviously been within a home environment. The up side of the tale is that RGT Lancs can guarantee her a place but not for approx 10 days, so we are desperately trying to find her an emergency foster home. I've found today really emotional as I was so determined to help 'Jim' find her somewhere to go, but wasn't hopeful. My bosses have been amazing and let me use work phone and let Martin off site for an hour to fetch her and take her to the vets etc. Just keep her in your thoughts please and hope that everything goes to plan and we can take her to a place of sefety before long.

Is she still in the peak district? I could foster for 10 days but am in newcastle upon tyne, could travel to yorkshire to pick up. Currently have two of my own and fostering a lovely mad two year old, could squeeze another in for a FEW days.

Janice I didn't respond as the pm poised the same question as was placed on the board and two trustees had already responded suggesting the rgt. We have been up to our necks with emergencies and ill and injured dogs this week that didnt have people trying to cacth their back and were in danger. IF Lancs Rgt can guarantee this bitch a place we are happy to kennel for a week. I also agree how emotionally draining it is if you x that by 15 dogs day in day out it gives an idea of what I'm dealing with.

Lisa ...Thank you so much...I've left message for lady at RGT to get in touch with me to let her know whats happening and see if we can get definite or approx date...and we'll see what we can sort. Will be in touch. 'Jim' is happy for her to stay for 10 days but she's living in a van which isn't ideal.

Janice, you went the extra mile sorting the abandoned greyhound, its such a tough thing to do when you feel so sorry for her being dumped, so angry with the owner, plus its an emergency having her cooped up in a van, time goes on and where to go for help? Thanks to your persistence it looks like she is in a safe place now, great work.
