Hi all, Blue finished a course of antibiotics last week, but has had a runny tummy since. It's getting worse, and this morning, he'd had an accident during the night. He was quite mortified poor thing, it's onkly the 2nd time in 4 years.
So is there anythign we can do to help him? With it beign after the antibiotics would the usual starving for 24 hrs work?
It was probably extra bad today as he got his tea twice yesterday (long story, but but me and hubby fed them last night).
Any advice please?

You could try something like Yakult as the good bacteria is supposed to help the gut - vet suggested it to me once when my donkey had antibiotics.

thanks for that, my hubby has just been to Pets at Home and bought some probiotic stuff for him, so sounds very similar. I'm at work today and worrying about him!!!

Probiotics should help him, the problem with ABs is as well as killing off the bad bacteria it also kills the good stuff so his gut will need its bacteria balancing again.

Pro Kolin is very good - vets sell it but you can get it online cheaper. If mine are v bad I starve for 24hrs but give that - it comes in a syrynge type thing and they both love it so I just squirt it into their mouths

thanks I'll remember that one too. Well he seems very perky tonight, no brekkie, and he had brown rice and boiled chicken for tea, which he woolfed down. He's really hungry again now, so am just cooking a little bit more for him, not much though. I'm keeping an eye out for him pooing on walks and can't wait to see if it's semi solid tomorrow!
The pro botic powder mentions disolving in his water, which we have done, but with Jack here too I need to make sure Blue gets enough. We put a scoop on his tea, should I do another scoop now? It doesn't say about how much per day on the pack.

Hope he's ok. Probiotics is the way when they've had antis, even live yoghurt will help.

I've never been so pleased to see a mostly solid poo this morning! He seems quite perky today too, so it seems to be working. More rice for brekkie then will ease him back onto his kibble from tonight.
Thanks for the advice and reassurance everyone.
